I didn't say anything about your musical taste, I don't know anything about it and at this point I don't care to. I'm responding purely to what I see in your posts, and what you said made it sound as if you had problems with that track. If anything that track should at least prove that rap music goes well beyond those stereotypes, and as long as you malign the whole genre based on those preconceptions you aren't doing yourself any favors.
I understand that whatever music you like 'strikes a chord in you', as it does in me too - when I was young, rap wasn't the music that did that for me. In fact, I generally hated it and wasn't open to it. As I got older I was exposed to more and more artists and I decided that if I was ever going to take responsibility for my own tastes, I should know enough about rap to really say why I don't like it. Low and behold, I found a number of artists and tracks that did resonate with me and I was rewarded for keeping an open mind with music that enriched my life.
If we're going to keep going on, let me ask this: if the music isn't first forward in your mind when you're listening to it, then what does it matter that the lyrics are intelligible? What matters more, the sound or the message? If it's good lyrics you're after, than the deeper of annals of hip-hop will have some great treasures for you - should you decide they're worth your time.
