Oblivion's is much better in terms of realism (of course), although if I reinstall it any time soon, I'm getting a mod to fix the damn enemy levelling. Fallout 3's, however, is much more RPG-styled, which helps you to shape your character in whatever way you choose much more easily. Don't know which to pick, to be honest.

I like how the people complaining about Oblivion's leveling system being too easy are purposely grinding it by sneaking into a wall or repeatedly casting a spell while they leave. it's like using the console commands or using a trainer. It's basically cheating.
I personally liked Oblivion's level up system way better because I found it more immersive. If I wanted to be a stealthy character, I basically had to commit to stealth. I couldn't start wearing heavy armor and wield dual-hammers after that because my skills weren't good in those.

While I think Oblivion had the better system on paper, Fallout's actually worked.

The Oblivion system favoured people who plan ahead and when you're roleplaying, it breaks immersion when you realise, "I've got to work on my sword skill to have a chance in later game". The system was also hampered by the much maligned enemy leveling which further punished players who didn't min/max their characters. I would love to see the Oblivion system come back but only if it's more forgiving or if the enemies don't level with you.

Fallout 3's system was the better one for me. I thought the whole leveling/scaling aspects of Oblivion were the worst part of the game.

i would like to see a mix of the two.As in you can lvl up skills by using that skill but you need to kill stuff/complete quests to lvl up and lvling up would let you chose a perk or let you add like a number of points into skills.
