I love it. The most fun I have in MMO's is leveling up. I mean sure, yay for PvP and raids but they eventually get boring and can't match up to the memories of leveling up and meeting new people along the way. No matter how many times you reroll it will never be the same as the first time. Wow... that works for so many things lol.

I think Cryptic hit the nail on the head with levels and playing with friends - The Sidekick system. If you're new and want to play with your high level mates, you can go and do their quests, and you are brought up to their level temporarily to do it. You get rewards as if you were back at your old level, but you get enough of a power boost to make you a servicable player.

I personally like leveling up and the new feeling of power at having that bit more health, having attacks that do that bit more damage, or maybe even getting an entirely new ability, but I can certainly see that some people wouldn't enjoy feeling forced to do it.
This. The sidekick system kicked arse in that game, and I'm elated that they're going to use it for GW2.

i like levelling up as a part of a games core gameplay not as a tool to reach the fun bit at the end i think it should be balanced with equal fun throughout and if really need be yea add a bit more at the end but dont make that the only point of levelling up

I dig pretty much any game that lets you level up, be it characters, weapons, etc. So, in short, yeah I'm a level grinding kind of guy.

Leveling up is only good when you become proportionally more powerful. If you start by hitting a 20hp enemy for 10 damage. You shouldn't level up and hit a 200hp enemy for 100 damage. That's not leveling at all. The number is different, but there's no effect from the increase!

I like when a game keeps throwing a mix of old and new enemies, so when you smash down old enemies with your new levels you can get a good sense of how much more powerful you are since the start of the game.

I don't like the act of powergaming, but the satisfaction of reaching the next level just in the run of play (like when using the KCAS mod for Oblivion) is awesome.

Im currently playing Need for speed just for some sence of "leveling up" there doesnt seem to be alot of RPGs on 360, and i refuse to play any turnbased games but keep feeling a lust for just leveling up and becoming better so i look for games that i can do that in

Ah, leveling! As an old school D&D player and long time dungeon master I can safely say the most common utterance after the completion of a hub of the story, end of a major encounter, or just about any given session is "Did we level?" People who get into thier characters love to see them progress when they have endured and triumphed.

Of course, as a DM it has been my obligation to impishly cackle "no" and feast upon thier salty, salty tears as I savor thier agony...unless they did level...which is just as gratifying as they become as giddy as children on Christmas Eve and plunge into thier books and charactersheets with dice and pencils in hand.

As for MMO's, I dont get any elation from leveling. I do enjoy seeing my friends level though.

I hate levelling. Because by that point a very specific line has been drawn. You're not playing the game for the experience, you're playing for experience points. And that's just wrong, they should be about fun, not putting in effort for an imaginary reward. So while I enjoy levelling up as a natural part of gameplay I don't really care for playing for the sole purpose of levelling. Unfortunately most MMOS are jam packed with the kind of content that is only there to keep you moving about as you grind for levels.
