Ive been playing LOTRO ( Lord of the Rings online) since before it was F2P and have always had a soft spot for it. I was wondering if now that it was free any escapists would like to join me and maybe make a kinship. What do you guys think about this? and LOTRO in general now that its free.

I would (because I love Lord of the Rings), but I can only handle one MMORPG at a time, and that slot is taken up by DDO

Hmmm. I haven't played an MMO since I bought Guild Wars a long time ago, and it wasn't very fun. But then again, I love LOTR, so I might be willing to give this a try now that it's free.

I'm trying it out right now. Some of the limitations might be troublesome to deal with at higher levels, though.

I dont like MMOs since they all try to copy WOW, I know that APB sucked but at least they tried something new

There is a welcome back thing on the EU servers that I'm playing, if you have an account its free right now, I'm going to level up as much as possible so I don't have to buy quest packs.

Also making as many characters so I have slots and less restrictions when it does go F2P.

If the restrictions aren't overly annoying I'll be playing for a while.

They didn't give me a low res option - it was either standard (7gig) or hi-res.

Is it ACTUALLY free, or is it free in the 'making money' kind of way, where they charge you for anything that isn't dreadful, like decent weapons and things.

I played a trial back when it was P2P and loved it then, so I welcome the opening up of LOTRO.
