Straight here, and one of my beat mates is gay. I've long lived in the belief that everyone should be treated the same, so I don't have an aversion to gay people.

Also, I think lesbians are awesome, so i can't really have a problem with gay guys.

what is it with lesbians anyway? dosen't any one else find it weird that 99% of straight males find female homosexuality more attractive than .. well any other sexuality

There's a joke on Coupling that straight guys are obsessed with lesbians because it's an area of sex where they don't have to do anything. I can kinda see the point...

It's definately more of a porn thing, though - lesbian porn has all the advantages of straight porn, without any unsightly penises to get in the way of the pretty pictures.

Like someone else said, being gay is fine, it's just people like Alan Carr who irritate me. I know people like that are only a small portion of the Gay Community, and straight guys are like it aswell. Maybe it's just overly effiminate people who bother me regardless of sexuality.

Hello I'm Nichole Marie Dow and I'm the President of the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) at my school. Monroe High School (Monroe Michigan) is a "pro-sexual" school, or so they say, but there forever will be discrimination. Trying to persuade your friends that being LGBT is perfectly fine is a nice idea but not all will see eye-to-eye... Me, I am bi-curious, basically in a nut shell i think some or most girls are attractive but i really have not a desire to date any. i often think girls are hawt, have a nice ass, or i may want to make out with 'em, but i have a boyfriend.. Although, he has a rule that i can make out with girls as long as he classifies them as hawt which i think is wrong.. FUNNY! but wrong lmao.. but what we all need to understand is A.) if you aren't LGBT there will always be people out there who are so deal with it and B.) if you ARE LGBT then you need to realize that there always will be homophobes and you just need to accept that.. SO you may get mad at those who are 'homos' or you may get mad a the 'homophobes' but it's part of life to disagree or have your own opinion, so try not to get upset by it but see it as that person is unique and has their own opinion just as they should see you.. sorry to be all 'ranty' or watevs but yeah deal with it and accept it all cuz it's all there and NOT going away. thank you

Though the proliferation of gay events is getting silly. Seems to me most of the world is used to the idea that Gay is OK, so theres no pressing need to keep having parades. Saying that, people do seem to enjoy the parades though, so its all good to be honest.

I'm straight, and I look at as, I'm fine with gays, I just wouldn't like it too much if a gay guy started hitting on me. Also, I have gay friends, mostly girls, but a few guys aswell.

my sisters best friend is gay, anoying sometimes but i don,t care.(he looks at me)

i'm strait, i don't have too much of a problem with homosexuality but i do find it a bit strange (maybe because im a redneck), if it makes you happy then sure but if a guy starts hitting on me im going to punch the kid, i have a girlfriend by the way.

Just out of curiosity, what would your reaction be if someone of your preferred gender started hitting on you, but they were really ugly/annoying/[insert turn-off here] and you really weren't interested in them? Incompatible sexuality is really just another matter like that... no need to punch anyone, just say "No thanks, I don't swing that way" or something like that. =P

Anyway, I probably haven't experimented enough to find out, but I currently think I'm heterosexual. I hate the word 'straight', as it makes GBLTs sound inferior, which they really aren't.

=) I was kind of counting on the Escapist to be open-minded. I think what wewontdie11 might actually be referring to is a flamefest starting on the poor person who ends up admitting he's not so hot on the idea of homosexuality, "omg ur so narrow-minded and prolly religious" yada yada yada. I'm hoping people can agree and disagree and agree to disagree civilly though. The "I Am Racist" thread I started a few months back turned out all right, so this should be fine.

You would hope so, but then, look at the poll. There are approximately five straights who are okay with LGBT for every straight who isn't (I'm going to start saying LGBT from now on because I think crape knows more about this than I do xP). In other words, approximately 1 in 6 is homophobic. Would you expect a ratio like that if I did a poll on "Do you think non-whites/people outside your ethnic group should be trusted?" (Again, I'm phrasing this bit on the basis that most people here are okay with homosexuality, but if you disagree, feel free to contradict me in a civil way. It's The Escapist after all.)

No the reason why I'd punch the guy is because that happend to me once. i had taken my girlfirend to starbucks where i got a coffee and se got osme tea. We sat at one of the tables and started doing our homework. A guy came over and asked if it was alright if he sat here (it was a relativly big table. I said sure. Now i had my arm around my girlfriends shoulder as we did our work and this guy called me to atention. He's like, your really strong. I had no i dea how to reaspond to it so i was like, "um... thanks". Then he's like "its turning me on a bit" . Me: I'm not gay if you havent noticed i'm with my girlfriend. No, thats what I was saying, I would think it a little werid, I wouldn't hit them or anything, I'd feel kinda bad for them. I guess that come out differently than inteneded, but I just ment I would think it a little odd, just like if one the kinds of people you mentioned above did the exact same thing, I would its a little werid, thats all. maybe this means I'm shallow or whatever, its just how my brain works.
