No. I'm a friendly, kind person. I just refuse to believe in the idea of romance. I just can't take it seriously.

I agree completely. I too loved without return. It hurts. Constantly.

I believe love is not as significant as people make it out to be. I also believe it is harmful to all who seek it.
But I do believe it exists.

As for the second question, I would much prefer the former. At least that I can control.
When someone else loves you, they have to deal with it. You can't help them. In fact, most attempts to do so would only hurt them more.
I can control myself enough to just stop feeling anything that gets in my way. It would already be a miracle for me to fall in love in the first place, getting rid of it should not be a problem. Someone else loving me is more complicated.

I already have to deal with this in a non-romantic sense with my immediate family. I am pretty sure it breaks my mother's heart that I do not love her back. My siblings might be able to handle it, as they pretty much hate every aspect of my being, but not her.
I cannot stop her from loving her son without doing something that would hurt her for the rest of her life. This shit is way too difficult.

I've done the first, and it sucks.
And I basically think I will never love a girl again. I'm upwards from 5 to probably 10 great girls that I haven't dated since.

Would you really be depressed if you couldn't love in return? Because not being able to love, you wouldn't really know any kind of love would you. You would be emotionally crippled and not know anything else.

Ergh. Went through the first on multiple occasions, currently going through the second (not UNABLE to love, just don't feel it towards the person) and both really, really suck. The first hurts. A lot. The second is making me feel really, really uncomfortable as she becomes less and less subtle. To never love and be loved in return again, however, would be pretty awful. So...I don't know. The first, I guess. Ugh.

Why don't you just meet somebody and have fun? Let the deeper feelings develope on their own time and just enjoy the pretty thing while she's in your company at first. Also, the two options you have in your poll are called crushes. Thats not real love.
