I was lurking the escapist for a year before a thread made me rage so hard that i joined.

i'm with this. stealth keeps you alive and safe. soon as you stop lurking you are open to idiots attacking you. but it's the internet so whatever right? >.> <.< *bang*

wel, me personally, it had nothing to do with SAFETY, i just didnt care enough to post. but now that im here, i figure, why the hell not?

I hate MireLurks.
But seeing as I've never met a... Lurker, I can't say I love 'em or hate 'em.
If I'd met them, they wouldn't be much of a Lurker, right?
But I Still HATE MireLurks.

Well, as a former lurker, all I can say is that I'm not bothered by lurkers. They just like to listen to other people's opinion, but don't feel inclined to express theirs, as they feel like they have nothing valid to say or what they would have said has already been said. Plus lurking gives you a way to peer into the soul (sort to speak) of the forums, lest they waste their time signing up to a forum full of people who don't share their interests, or ignoramuses. (Calm down, I'm not talking about the Escapists here. Mostly.) Besides, no one posts on forums and expect to only be heard by select people, eh?

I was a lurker for about...six months before joining. It's more interesting posting and expressing your opinion then watching in the shadows like a creepy uncle.

There's people on this forum who registered THIS MONTH with more posts than me (ok that's an exaggeration, but still...)

Also where's the poll option for "I am one!" Wouldn't it be neat to have an idea of how many lurkers are about, voting in polls but not actually making posts?

Often times I start writing out my responses only to realize that no one really cares to see my side of the argument anyways, and that my words no matter how logical will fall on deaf ears. Such is the beauty of the internet (and humanity in general).

Yeah, I discovered Yhatzee and then I lurked for a while before I decided I really like the way this place is run. Then I joined and have been happy ever since.
