Which is better and give a brief description and no flames allowed (please) (no intents of trolling)
P.S. Manga is japanese for comics
so basically it's western comics vs manga.

I prefer western comics especially the "Ultimate" series from marvel. Though, there is a lot to be said for "One Piece".

I have been all three.

I just like the Western Comics characters better. The Flash, Doctor Doom, you just can't beat them. Don't even try by the way...

One Piece is da shit! However there are quite a few other really good ones, however to read them you may have to do so online because they arn't in english yet, like Soul Eater.

Damn thats a bit harsh =P But i know a fellow anime fanatic when i see one!!
Now i believe there is a problem however, neither side wishes to give the other a chance, i know plenty of people who love western but would never read manga because they think it sucks and it goes both ways, if people would just give the other side a chance it would be a hell of a lot more fun at comicon

I was hardcore western in the nineties. Infinity Gauntlet, Marvel vs DC, Image alien and Predator comics etc.

But lately its been all manga. Berserk (rawr), hajime no ippo, x, furabura etc.

I try not to think of one as better than the other... rather I see them as different flavors of awesome and win.

Comics for the most part, but even then it's fairly limited. I like collected graphic novels. Death of Superman, Watchmen, etc. I never got into manga that much, the art quality is a bit weak for my tastes. They feel too throw away to me when compared to the artwork in a western comic.

Why isn't there ever a 'I like both' option on these types of polls?
Both have value, and I usually find them kind of incomparable to each other. They represent vastly different ideals and viewpoints that are connected to the underlying cultural differences between Eastern and Western values.
Both can tell awesome stories in a multitude of ways, show remarkable innovation of concepts and ideas that are rarely found in other mediums. Why does it always have to come down to which is better? Both rock.

...but hell, I admittedly indulge in way more manga/anime/JRPGS and such than I do comics, but I love them both. Comics on the other hand usually get better movie adaptations, so I watch more of those.

Manga's awesome, though there some pretty good western comics (looking for group, for example)
Looking For Group is not an example of a good Western Comic, it's an example of a poorly written but pretty well drawn Webcomic.

Without a doubt I prefer western comics. In fact there's very little of modern Japanese culture that I do like. As for comics, I'm a big fan of Marvel stuff generally. Mostly the Avengers and Iron Man or Deadpool. Watchmen is great too, without jumping too much on the recent movie-hype bandwagon.

Western.

Nothing beats the works of Neil Gaiman or Alan Moore...I mean..it is The Sandman and The Watchmen we talking about here.

No amount of backwards reading books can top that.

Actually Perfer Western for these basic reasons:

Much better put together story
Much Better Character development
Also overpowered people dies
and finally most of the time dead means Fucking DEAD
Also breaking their "skintight" stereotype (see 100 bullets, DMZ, Fables, and Runaways as examples)

I liked manga more because the subject matters in manga is more varied. The only thing I see in western comics are Hero comics, which i'm really not interested into much.

I recommend Death Note as a nice manga if you want a compelling story.

I've never been interested in either, but Alan Moore is starting to turn me onto western comics now. So, I have to go with western comics in the poll. I just don't really feel interested in manga, though I don't mind anime :)
