Poll: Mars Colonization

Here is the setting.
Nasa or Who ever has already landed on Mars. Poked it with a stick and came home.
Next robots and basic Habitats were sent in to make sure the basics were ready and waiting for you.
Now its time to go. One big or a few dozen smaller ships with about a hundred people (Families and all) Blast off for Mars.
Six or so Months in Space, then a few Minuets of Terror for landing then you are there for Probably the rest of your life.
No Natives or Hostile Governments trying to stop you. Just a planet that will happily kill you if you make a Mistake.
Oh and there is no Money in it. No real useful fame or glory to be had unless you make it.

Lol just the basics.
Bunk houses, Small green house for food and Air, Power plant of some kind, Probably a green house like building to hold Chickens or something. Well and a Garage for a few rovers.

I've always said that leaving the planets atmosphere would be the crowning moment of my life if ever I did it. Living on another planet... That is such an enticing idea, to be part of a monumental achievement for mankind..

The thing is.. Unless I could convince a significant portion of the people in my life that I care about to come with me, it would be intensely depressing. I know quite a large portion of the escapist population is callous and narcissistic, but I sorta need people lol.

No. I am to attached to the natural beauty of Earth to abandon it for another planet. I would consider maybe visiting another planet temporairly (thought I have a phobia for planes and by extension space ships, so maybe not), but I would never want to stay there forever. There are just to many great things here on Earth. What could Mars offer me that would possibly make up for these losses?

I have no intention to go on Mars. Not even if they had a highspeed internet connection up there. Imagine the monthly fee on that connection, I'm not a millionaire ;--)

I might. Perhaps if I was old, had achieved all I wanted here on this planet and wanted to leave the hustle-bustle of Earth behind. I can't imagine I would go alone. It could get very lonely.

I would think about it, i have always wanted to go into space. I would proberly go if i dont have a concrete job on Earth or much to live for here. I would go to Mars to start a new life and to help mankind advance. Then i know i have accomplished something in my lifetime.

Is there a communications network set up between Earth and Mars?
Are there sustained shipments of supplies (food, water, entertainment things, technologies) to the planet?
Does my family go with me?
Can my friends also go?

For the chance to be a part of something so much larger than myself, the very salvation of the human race through space colonization... I would gladly eat my own crap and drink my own piss!

Thankfully I know that I will only have to drink recycled crap and piss, so full speed ahead!

But not likely, NASA is very picky about who they send into space. I would have to compete with scientists and some of the most brilliant people on the planet for such an honor.
