I know we've had several threads that were generally about this same topic, but now that the final class video for ME2 is out on IGN, I figured I'd ask now that we can all make more informed decisions.
Anyway, we have the same 6 classes as in the first game (Adept [http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14235013/mass-effect-2/videos/masseffect2_trl_adept_112309.html], Engineer [http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14235013/mass-effect-2/videos/masseffect2_trl_engineer_120309.html], Sentinel [http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14235013/mass-effect-2/videos/masseffect2_trl_sentinel_121109.html], Infiltrator [http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14235013/mass-effect-2/videos/masseffect2_trl_infiltrator_122109.html], Vanguard [http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14235013/mass-effect-2/videos/masseffect2_trl_vanguard_10510.html], and Soldier [http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14235013/mass-effect-2/videos/masseffect2_trl_soldier_11210.html]), but it looks like more is being done in the sequel to make them distinct. For example, they've added more than weapon types than just the 4 we're used to (SMG, Heavy Pistol, etc), and there's more variety in which classes can use which guns. Also, and probably more importantly, each class has at least one completely unique ability, so the Vanguard (for example) is actually fairly unique, rather than just being half a soldier glued to half an adept.
And so we come to the heart of the issue. Keeping in mind that, even if you carry over your save, you can still switch classes, which one appeals to you the most?
For me, I'm either planning on going Infiltrator or Adept. On the one hand, that invisibility power looks cool, and the fact that it looks like the Infiltrator is designed for long range appeals to me. On the other, they've really made the biotics look better and more useful here than they were in the first game.
What do you all think? Please, explain your decisions.
EDIT: Sonuvabitch, the "Great big thread o' Mass Effect 2 Combat" went up while I was typing. It's about a different topic, but still...
