That's really a tough choice. I'd go with ME2, simply because there is more room for improvement over the original the with Bioshock.

Personally I couldn't get into Bioshock, played it all the way, but never really sucked me in, Mass Effect on the other hand, dying to see what comes next.

I thought both Bioshock and Mass Effect weren't that good, but atleast Mass Effect had actual characters instead of tape recorders.

So I'll have to go with Mass Effect 2.

BioShock 2 looks like a complete retread of the first, and I highly doubt they can top its philosophical bits. Go for ME 2. The story should be excellent and the gameplay is improved.

Yeah, I'd go with Mass Effect 2 also. I mean I'm excited for Bioshock 2 and all, but like many people said already, a sequel always seemed unnecessary. It would be nearly impossible for 2K Games to come close to the original Bioshock, let alone top it.

Definitely Mass Effect 2.

BioShock is one of the few games that really didn't need a sequel and it stinks of money making. Also the idea of playing as a Big Daddy for the whole game seems a bit of a stock idea thrown together in 5 minutes.

Im willing to give it a try but it just looks like fail.
Pretty much this, Bioshock 2 just seems unnecessary.
While storylinewise the story of Bioshock reached closesure, I think a sequel might be able to pull out a more original storyline than the first one since they can't use the system shock 2 story pattern

I actually have been pondering over bioshock 2 over Mass Effect 2 and decided to pick Mass Effect 2 since I actually am still playing Mass Effect (third playthrough)

Though I have already paid in full for Mass Effect 2, i'm really excited about both; get ME2 first just because it will be out first, plus think of the sweet pre-order stuff. Also I have amazed myself by getting ME2 because I didn't like the first one.

Both look good and i'll probably be getting both myself but i would suggest Bioshock 2. Single player looks just as good as the original if not better and now they have multiplayer which is looking pretty good if you've seen it.

Wow, most people in this thread have turned me off buying the Original Bioshock..
You really shouldn't be deterred from buying Bioshock 1, it's an excellent game; I bought it twice.(limited edition and over xbox live for 30 bucks. The thing really is that there are two groups of gamers, those who like RPG's and shooter fans. Though there is some overlap between the two factions, like me, most of those on these two sides hate each other. Nothing against either side, we're all different. In short, even if you don't think it warranted a sequel, get the original Bioshock. It's a great game that's fun, action-packed, and has a good, if a little tough to follow near the end, story.

you can get it for less than $20 at most places; and to be honest the Bioshock demo really doesn't do it justice

Definately going for Bioshock first personally, I enjoyed the first one so much that I even bought it again.
I bought it three times. Twice on 360 and then again on my new PC. Gotta love the love.

Bioshock 2

Seriously how can anyone not get tired of Bioware games, they make them using the same pattern for a decade now.
The same reason people can still play the same pair of disembodied hands and arms walking around corridors shooting things in Bioshock, system shock, doom, team fortress, left 4 dead, quake, call of duty, medal of honour, killzone, timesplitters, duke nukem, deus ex, call of juerez, shellshock, haze, half-life, portal, frontlines, ARMA, unreal tournament, halo, clive barkers jericho, battlefield, turok, red faction. I think I made my point.

FPS have copied the same formulah since bloody Wolfenstein oh theres another one for the list.
