It takes a lot of work to make a decent looking male shepard. Female characters are a lot easier to make, but you can't really go too far off from the preset if you want something good. Both come out as a very generic looking character.Cyclone of Mystery said:Paul Logan's kinda hot.Flying Pilgrim said:Whenever I try making a face, it always ends up looking like Paul Logan.
At least my male Shepard came out looking KIND OF attractive. My female Shepard looked like that fat toad chick from The Oblongs.
Yeah, the scarring feature from ME1 helped fix the generic look a bit, but not by much. Wonder if that feature will make a return?Flying Pilgrim said:It takes a lot of work to make a decent looking male shepard. I couldn't find the original post, mainly because I wasn't looking, but I was super excited because that is almost exactly the same character model as my femshep! yayCyclone of Mystery said:Whoa! Except maybe for the hair and there not much to be done there (damn you miranda and your perfect hair)

Couldn't have said it better myself if I tried! So I won't try, instead I'll just say that all of the things you've listed above are exactly why I've not let her being a 'racist *****' as most here are putting it, stop me from liking her as A) a character and B) a romance option. That said though I can't say I'm all that into Bioware's redesign of her look...its better than her design in ME1&2 but its abit too far removed from said old look to be realistic. And as for Tali though she was abit annoying I found it wasn't enough of a problem to stop me from romancing her in Ashley's absenceIrridium said:Her grandfather is the only human to surrender to aliens. As a result, she got shafted by the Alliance many times. Her holding a grudge against aliens is perfectly understandable, reasonable, and, well, human.Wheatley said:I never said I agreed with the genocide of the geth (I tried to convince Tali and the admirals to open negotiations) but she at least has some weird, twisted justification for it. Ashley just grumbles and bitches about how shes surrounded by inferior aliens, and is incredibly hostile to Liara for one. The n she shows up for about 5 minutes in ME 2 to ***** at you, where many people just wanted to finish the mission and go home to a good LI.
She's hostile to Liara because if your a male, she see's someone who could try and take you away from her. In other words, jealousy, which is another human trait. If your female, well its because she just got on the ship and appears to be taking control of everything. Knowing her history, its obvious she would react this way.
Her views also change throughout the game. After talking with you plenty of times, she re-thinks her stance on aliens, and changes. She's more accepting of them after you talked with her. She changes because of the situations that she's been in.
And she bitches you out in ME2 because your working with a terrorist organization known for ruthlessly killing aliens(and preforming horrid tests on humans). How would you feel if someone close to you, who talked you into accepting another culture, and then came back 2 years later doing secret missions for some racist terrorist organization? An organization you actually fought against in the first game(the Cerberus quest chain in ME1 is the largest quest chain outside of the main quest). You'd be pissed off to, and demand an explanation. Of course you can't defend yourself because Bioware doesn't let you. But thats not an issue with her, thats an issue with the dialog system not letting you tell the truth.
Essentially, she's a fully developed character complete with a personality, beliefs, morals, thoughts, likes, dislikes, emotions, and all that good stuff that makes us human.
And for some reason everyone hates that, and prefers Tali for some reason. A girl who's infatuation with you is more annoying than cute.
Same here! I'd pick her Over Liara and Kaiden any day of the weekImmortalDrifter said:Exactly why I like her.-Zen- said:Ashley is an actual strong woman, and as such, most likely intimidates the soft and pudgy portion (i.e. majority) of the nerd population. Oh, and she has a religion. Dat r make er evul and stoopid hurr durr.
No seriously, I've watched every possible way that can happen on youtube... I get into these arguments a lot.... and if Ashley shoots Wrex it's only due to one of two scenarios:Frozen Donkey Wheel2 said:Snip

Good to see another(familiar) person that's actually using common sense when analyzing Ashley's character has found his way into the thread!Vrex360 said:Except for that Ashley never WAS racist. She never idealizes humans as being superior to aliens, she never argues that aliens are lesser beings. On Virmire she has no complaint working with the Salarian team and even volunteers for the job. She also hopes for improved relations between Humans and Quarians thanks to Tali helping with Saren. She also despises groups like Terra Firma and will vocalize strongly against them. Also despite showing hostility to Liara, she still notably shows sympathy towards her in regards to the death of her mother (hinting to Shepard to go talk to Liara because 'it's gotta hurt').
In total, the only really noteworthy thing Ashley does is mention that she doesn't think humans should rely on aliens as allies because she imagines that, when push comes to shove every race will look out for the interests of their own over others. She argues not to mistreat aliens or turn them down as allies but not to also expect aliens to help out in a crisis and instead should be prepared and capable to do things like this on their own.
This is a mindset that comes from her family name being ground through the dirt due to her granfather being the only human ever to surrender to an alien race.
And furthermore, it is a mindset that she can move on from.
Sorry, didn't mean to cause any offence if I did. I just thought I'd point this out.
EDIT: Oh and before I forget, Ashley never specified a religion. She merely said that she believed in god, never said anything else specific.
Her religion, like her views were made into whatever the fanbase wanted to see them as. Even when they weren't specified as such.
Once again, people didn't LEARN about her character, they merely PROJECTED onto her instead.
