I really don't give crap, I'm buying it on 360! I love how your yes choice makes you sound like a total jackass >.> I wouldn't refuse to buy a game over something that trivial anyway, I think it's more paranoia that would make someone hate it so much. The one thing I hate more than Origin, is all of those saying they won't get a game because of it. I'm buying it for the Developer, not the Publisher... But hey, I am a Bioware fanboy who has already pre-ordered the N7 Collector's Edition, so what do I know :p

Well, since I'm getting it for the 360 and I played the demo today, no. It isn't effecting me in the slightest.

Of course I'm getting it, on disc though this way if they want to try and 'take it away' as it's been apparently said they can, there'd be an easy way around it. Even if it isn't true they can, I don't care. Also paying the same amount for digital only is mental.

I guess the question then becomes how ME3 is offered through Origin. In actuality, most games on Origin right now are MUCH friendlier about being run without being logged in than games on Steam tend to be. You don't need to even bother with putting it in offline mode: don't even bother starting Origin and just run the game.

I suppose there's always the possibility that they have some sort of always-online DRM scheme for ME3 through Origin though. That's a somewhat different issue, though one that I think people tend to get particularly unreasonable about.

May I ask why you don't leave Steam on? In terms of system resources, it's proportionally tiny compared to a modern game, so there isn't really any good performance reason to turn it off (especially not to just put it in offline mode). Are you afraid Steam is reading your emails or something? If you're approaching this level of paranoia, there's absolutely no reason that Steam couldn't mine the information you suspect while in offline mode or disconnected from the internet and simply send that information as soon as you do connect. In fact, if Valve wanted to snoop around on your computer, there's absolutely no reason they couldn't install something a bit more covert alongside Steam that wasn't quite so simple to detect or turn off.
Steam like to auto-update games and such, on paper its a fine idea but I have something of a limited monthly download limit and I don't want Steam chewing all that up.

ME2 at first had always on DRM, in that the DLC required an always on connection. But since you got free day 1 DLC with it... However that was patched out.

I wasn't going to buy it in the first place. So...

Can't care less for Origin - just another D2D service being maintained by a major publisher, so what?
EDIT: Wait, it appears they've changed it so it isn't evil. I still don't want to clog my computer with more third party software though.

The only thing I hate about Origins is that it'll uninstall games from the hard drive if you don't play them for too long. What if I have alot of hard drive space?

I still love Mass Effect so I dare to make the sacrifice... until a Origin bypass patch comes out.

Yes,I will. What Origin does is simply what Steam does, except with no opt-out option. And I'll play ME3 into the ground. I WILL get the Quarians to make nice with the Geth. I WILL get the Krogan and Rachni to work together. I WILL kill the Illusive Man. I WILL kill every single Batarian assfuck in the galaxy!

Actually...I'll try to get them to work with us. If that doesn't work,THEN I'll pull another Arrival on them. Until no Batarians remain. Fucking slavers. I don't care if it's an integral element of your caste society! Live free or die running!

Really, in my humble gaming opinion, if your using a PC to play anything other than a massive RTS (like the Total War series or *shudder and gag* Starcraft)or an MMO than your wasting your time. PC gaming in general is dead its much better to play on a console. Hell half the time people play PC's with console style controllers so why not cut out the middle man and save yourself a whole lot of time, money, and grief.

Those that have PS3's might slightly disagree but 360 owners know what im talking about.

Also ME3 looks to be one of the best games of this generation, now add to that the fact that it will end different ways depending on how you played ME1 and 2, and you open up a host of replay possibilites for all three games.
Have fun with your stripped down version of Team Fortress 2 then. No hair off my back.
Actually I have Steam on my comp and when TF2 went free to play I downloaded it...I dont see what the big fuss is. Ive played better. Sure the TF model was copied alot but I found Tf boring to shooters of today.

I have had a bad experience with Origin already, so I am rather conflicted as to what I am going to do about ME3. Since I havent liked some of what I have seen/heard about it, and will be forced to use Origin again, I am currently leaning towards passing on the game. I will keep an eye on it, but their are enough great titles releasing just in the holiday season that I can probably skip it and not be too sad about it. Star Wars: The Old Republic and Skyrim should do a damn fine job of filling the gaming gap for many many months.

i'm not a huge fan of Mass Effect, and am growing to despise Origins. so i think i'll be fine sitting out this game

and if i ever do decide to play, i'll probably look into some hacked version so that i don't have to deal with origins (i'll probably buy an actual copy anyway just to make it legit)

This post is incredibly funny to me. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I imagine someone saying this in a "hammy" way and that image is hilarious.

Either way well done.

There are more then enough ways in which you can isolate Origin from your files, So I'm still going to get it.

Well if origin is required, i will buy it but gonna download crack for it. Origin is a big nono for me.
Edit it before the mods hunt your ass down.
If he pays for it, then why shouldn't he be able to do that! I hate pirates more then I hate Orgin but I don't see what's wrong with downloading the crack to a game you bought!
It's not like it's my opinion. It's the opinion of the Escapist and they have the banhammer, not me.
well, the wraith of the banhammer has not befallen any of the crackers yet, so it looks like we're in the clear

hehe.. crackers...

Well :) Evil or not evil, what is not intrusive on PC nowadays? (with exception of pirated software, that always delivers smoother player experience... which is supposed to be nonsensical) Every piece of DRM is basically a virus, that one have not choice but to install opening potential security breaches all over the place... This world is way too imperfect to be a PC gamer nowadays it seems :p.
