Poll: Mass Effect 3: Yay or Nay?

At first I thought this was a stupid question. Then i saw the poll going the way of "yes".
What the fuck is wrong with you people? not just you people, everyone in this fucking world.
It's obvious that every fucking government is too busy spreading their legs and getting fucked by big corporations to actually control their behavior so it's up to us, and when you throw money at immoral, evil, thieving services like origin you just give them the means to do it.

The poll is idiotic because it doesn't allow the "Yes, but I'm not going to get Origin" question.

It's going to be perfectly possible to get ME3 for PC without installing Origin, whether EA likes it or not. And if that is what it takes, then that's how I'll play Mass Effect 3.

The poll should just have read "Yes" or "No".

Xbox. At least I would if I had beaten ME2. Haven't beaten ME2 because you need to have an end game save in ME1 to import and I started a new game plus so I don't have an end game save anymore. I do own a copy of ME2 and plan to get ME3 after finishing it.

Many have, and the many have also noted how ambiguous the wording still is. It's not in clear print that they will mine the hell out of your computer (anymore), but neither does it say that they (explicitly) won't either.

Yeah they may not raid for the purpose of selling, but what about trading?

I mean I wonder if there will be always-on DRM through Origin. If it's just through the game, that's not really a problem (the data involved would be absolutely miniscule). The main problem is Origin auto-patching, so, as long as the DRM isn't through Origin somehow, you should be able to run the game without even opening Origin like you can with all of the games on it right now, handily avoiding your problem.

I'd be somewhat surprised if the DRM were through Origin actually, since it's a multi-platform release.

Edit: From what I'm seeing, the DRM can't be through Origin, since the game will be offered through other services. The only one that looks to be Origin-specific is the Deluxe edition.

Well the deluxe edition doesn't have much going for it; a tin dog and an ingame hoodie for Shep to wear seems to be the highlight of the pack. Not a lot of incentive, or compensation for that matter, to allow virtually unrestricted access to your computer's contents.

Doesn't change the answer, somebody already posted it, but according to the ME3 EULA, you only need an origin account to register the game, which may not even require you to download the program.

Can you link the ME3 EULA? I'd like to have a read of it.

Every EULA is like that, they are all left fairly ambiguous. Hell the Blizzard EULA for WoW says that they can ban you for any reason they see fit, regardless of whether or not you're a paying customer. Steam's and Sony's have clauses that (try) to protect them from being sued by customers. I honestly don't know what the big deal is with all the hate EA gets, yeah they're advertising is crap and their customer service needs some work, but honestly they don't actively rip people off. Hell, judging by the reaction of most of the users here, EA might as well be a serial puppy rapist.

You can opt out of Sony's anti-litigation clause by sending them a letter. Not sure about Steam's tho.

The hate has been building for close to a decade now, they have taken popular and well respected franchises and have effectively destroyed what built the base for those particular titles. The fans have pleaded and begged not to do this and EA have constantly ignored them.

Origin doesn't have free and unrestricted access more than any other program. If you suspect that they're up to something shady, I'm just curious why you don't suspect that all programs you use are up to something shady. I'm not really a tremendous fan of Origin, but I don't think it's even slightly reasonable to assume that they're spying on you (What would they gain? How would they mine such a vast and varied data set? The things that a user wants to keep private are precisely the things that a company like EA has no reason to care about whatsoever.).

Releasing their biggest titles (Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, The Old Republic) exclusively on Origin in an attempt to use those built-in demographics, problem is I don't like being funnelled to an inferior product!
Having an alternative I'll choose the alternative before Origin, at least until EA gets its shit together.

ummmm just wanted to point out you dont need Origin to play The Old Republic just need it to digitally download it you can always buy the physical disc.

It is, but I was noting that if the deluxe version is the only one that requires Origin, that there isn't enough incentive to get the deluxe.

I do suspect anything and everything I install on my computer, my sense of paranoia has saved me more than a few headaches in the past.

EDIT: You need an internet connection and you need to download the origin client to verify your game, or whenever you install it on a new system. Doesn't appear to need to be on all the time, and certainly not after you put in the code I think.

Hmmm. If that is the case then there may be a workaround to it after all. Will have to see closer to the release date.

EA does not have the right to tell me when and where I can play a game I paid $60 dollars for. If I shell out that amount of money for something, I should own it, and not be buying a license they can revoke at any time of their choosing for any reason. I dont care if anyone else agrees with me or bothers to take a stand, but I will take a stand against bad practices and a company that gleefully fucks over its' consumers.

P.S. same goes for Ubisoft and their shitty practices.
