1. Are you male or female?
Male

2. How often do you do the deed?
Usually once a day (5-12 times a week)

3. Are you in a relationship?
No

4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?
I would probably do it less, but that isn't really surprising considering the normal frequency.

5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?
I am certain that as a guy it must improve stamina.

6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?
It helps to do it. Not doing it is very distracting.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?
I am sure it's healthy.

8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?
>_>
<_<

It's the sort of thing that just needs doing. I can't understand people who have so little sex drive as to not regularly do it! o_O

That's not meant as an insult, it's just genuinely outside of my life experience.

1: Male

2: 3-5 times a week. Depends on how stressful my week is

3: Nope; though I did it while I was in a relationship, but I stopped for a few weeks once we started getting physical.

4: See above

5: Idk, it doesn't seem to take me any longer to finish compared to when I started. But the first tie someone else did it... She could have tried for hours and wouldn't have got me off. I'm no sex expert or anything, she was just that bad.

6: Idk. It's been a few says since I've done it and the only thoughts toward it was "It's been a while, meh."

7: I've been doing it since I was 14 and am currently 25. Nothing negative so far apart from the normal lethargic feel afterwards. Nothing positive that I noted either. So, there's that

8: Technique and when. I used to do it differently when I was younger, and I used to do it nearly daily.

Women do it just as often as Men. Most(that I know, at least) just won't admit to it. I had a close friend who after hanging out we got on the subject of masturbation and she admitted not only doing it, but thinking of me while she did it. Normally I wouldn't know how to feel about that, but the bad part was she was engaged... pretty big boner-killer for me.

1. Male
2. Usually at least once a day, it varies a lot based on how busy I am or if I'm working. I find being busy reduces the frequency of it a lot.
3. No, not in quite a while.
4. How much it changes depends on the relationship.
5. I don't think it improves anything, except right forearm strength of course.
6. When I stop doing it (like when staying away from home/at a con or whatever), I find I lose a bit of focus and I'm also a bit more anxious.
7. That's like asking if urinating is healthy, ejaculation is a natural process the body has to do, and without a partner handy the choice is obvious.
8. I was raised to be religious, so I felt a lot more guilt when I was younger. When I came to the conclusions in the question above I got over that, more or less.

1. Male.
2. As frequently as possible.
3. Nope.
4. Lololol fap fap fap.
5. Probably.
6. No, not really, unless it's been like 2 months, I imagine.
7. Healthy, unless you do it -way- too often, and start to get friction irritation and stuff. (Which yes, I have done.)
8. Pretty much kept the same schedule since I first did it.

To be honest, if I did have a libido and/or desired to masturbate, I probably would do so at least somewhat frequently. I perceive masturbation as a positive thing, regardless of gender or biological sex, but it just doesn't feel like it applies to me.

Thanks, it's interesting to hear the perspective on masturbation from somebody who's asexual.

No problem! There are actually quite a few asexuals who have libidos and masturbate just as much as people who are not asexual. Their libido is just not directed at anyone of any gender. If I remember correctly, there may be more asexuals with libidos than without, if not, then just as many. I just happen to personally lack a libido or desire to masturbate. It's definitely interesting just how varied perspectives on masturbation can be in and out of the asexual community.

... I'm going to pass that on to a friend who's confused about her own sexuality because that actually sounds a lot like her.
I'm 25 and I think I may be turning asexual myself. I've always been into it but... I'm very quickly losing interest and starting to look at my own libido as a bother.

I'm glad I can be of help! Asexuality isn't very well known, and the community itself is pretty diverse, so it's easy to have misconceptions about asexuality, and most people don't even know that it exists as an actual sexual orientation. I was lucky enough to stumble on the Asexual Visibility and Education Network online when I did, since I was really starting to question my identity by that point and their FAQ's really helped clarify things for me. Ever since, I have kept myself fairly informed about Asexuality, romantic orientations, and the GSM in general, so if you ever have questions on any of those topics, feel free to send me a message! I hope this information will be of help to your friend, whether she ends up identifying as asexual or not. =]

Also, there are people that consider sexuality to be somewhat fluid. There are people who went from identifying as asexual to sexual as well as sexual to asexual, often with their sexualities shifting long after puberty is finished. I think that fluidity of sexuality varies from person to person, but I definitely consider it a valid experience even if it rubs some people who support the "born this way" argument the wrong way sometimes.

Wow, people talking about masturbation in a comparatively intelligent manner on the Internet. I'm so impressed that I'll answer.

1. Are you male or female?
Female.
2. How often do you do the deed?
Usually daily, sometimes more. In fact I'm surprised by myself when I don't masturbate at least once in a day.
3. Are you in a relationship?
Yes, but it's a long distance one, so there isn't any, er...direct sexual interaction involved or what would otherwise act as a substitute for masturbation.
4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?
I would venture to say that I'd generally do it less if my relationship involved sex, since that's what I'm sure you're getting at here.
5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?
I don't think it would have much of an effect if at all in pleasuring your partner. Though in terms of knowing what turns you on, masturbation helps you gain experience there, so it could contribute to your own pleasure. I'm just guessing though; I'm a virgin.
6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?
Yes, it decreases my ability to focus normally in some cases. If I feel a strong desire to masturbate and I can get away with it, then I will in those circumstances. But if not I just get over it and return to normal functioning after a little while.
7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands? Definitely healthy in the mental sense, so long as you have the right attitude and don't feel guilty about your masturbation practices. The unhealthy "side-effects" like the ones you mentioned are just tales designed to discourage it in an era where it was commonly considered dirty.
8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?
I'm still in my teenage years and I didn't begin masturbating until kind of late according to the statistics, so as a result it's hardly different at all. If anything my rate of masturbating has increased slightly over the past couple years.

1. Male
2. 3-6 times a week.
3. No
4. I have never been in a relationship before, but if I were, I'd minimize it.
5. Hardly think it would make a difference.
6. First few days, reduced focus. After the first 3-4 days, focus increases.
7. In the long run, harmful. Ever heard of porn-induced erectile dysfunction?
8. Longevity has changed, technique's still the same.

health benefits of masturbation for women
http://www.womentowomen.com/sexualityandfertility/healthbenefitsofmasturbation.aspx

gender adjusted statistics of this poll at time of writing

male 1-3 times a week 17.8%
female 1-3 times a week 23%
male 3-6 times a week 34.9%
female 3-6 times a week 27.9%
male 7+ times a week 43.5%
female 7+ times a week 29.5%
male never 3.8%
female never 19.7%

as you could guess the amount of women in the poll is kinda low so it will skew the results. what interests me is the amount of guys who never have. i'm assuming it's likely due to the low age of escapists since by the age of 20 males who don't masturbate are basically unheard of but if you do happen to be over 20 and have never masturbated i have a couple questions if you don't mind

1. do you purposely abstain for religious or health reasons?
2. would you say you have a low libido?

1: Female
2:Daily
3:Nope, never will be. Find them dumb and very short sighted.
4:probably still would be same. But I wouldn't know for sure.
5:Iunno.
6:It really doesn't affect me either way
7: Medic backs me on this, I have no idea.
8: There's not much 'younger' for me to have a comparison on.

1. Are you male or female?
Male.

2. How often do you do the deed?
It varies. Could be anywhere from once during a week to two or (rarely) three times in a day.

3. Are you in a relationship?
Not really.

4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?
Depends. If the only option is for me to fly like Han, then that's what I do. And generally speaking, I'll do it more frequently for a few days coming off of a relationship, and then return to normal.

5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?
Eh... again, it depends. Generally speaking, probably not though.

6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?
Not particularly. If I'm focused on something, I won't typically start feeling the urge to take care of things unless it's really been a while, or unless someone begins teasing me in a not-so-innocent manner.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?
Well, I'm certainly losing my eyesight and I've been going at it for eleven years. But poor eyesight is part of my family, too. Sure I think it reduces stress though, at least temporarily.

8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?
Hm... not really. Overall, it's more something I do when I'm bored than when my libido is raging. My sex drive is mostly dormant when I'm not in a sexual relationship.

1. Female?
2. Fairly rarly, like once in a few months or even less, gets me worried sometimes...
3. yes
4. Less, without a partner it is somewhat pointless to me
5. Knowing ones body is allways helpful
6. Oh I know that a good orgasm once in a while is very good for my mood.
7. too much might be unhealthy in terms of overstimulation and muscleache, or something like that. I know that for men it is important to 'clean the pipes' once in a while (reducing risk of prostate cancer)
8. oh well... very different in my case, as my equipment has changed... it used to be more of a release of pressure that was sorta necessary, but now it is way more enjoyable (in several ways)

1. Are you male or female?
Male.
2. How often do you do the deed?
3-6 times a week, though sometimes I won't stop after the first time, so every once in a while I do it 3-4 times a night. But I usually take the next few days off after that.
3. Are you in a relationship?
No, never been.
4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?
Can't say as of yet, but probably less, as I often do it due to boredom.
5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?
Can't say for sure, but from what I heard there is a large difference between the two. So if any then minor.
6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?
Sometimes it will be distracting, but not majorly so.
7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?
I read somewhere that it will make you more fertile, though it depends on who you ask whether that's a good thing or not. It certainly doesn't seem to hurt.
8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?
I'm still pretty young, though I notice that when I first started it seemed to be almost a ritual, and now I will just start when browsing the internet.

1. Male

2. Daily, give or take.

3. Nope

4. I have no data concerning being in a relationship sadly, so I've no idea.

5. I'd imagine. Again no data.

6. Depends on the day but not usually.

7. I'd say it's neither here nor there. Just something we humans do. I'd air on the healthy side if anything.

8. Slightly different technique and tends to take a bit longer I suppose. 1. Are you male or female?

Male

2. How often do you do the deed?
3 times a week on average.

3. Are you in a relationship?
Yes.

4. If yes do you do it more or less? If no do you do it more than you usually would?
Less. Was masturbating daily when I was single.

5. Do you believe it improves your performance in the bedroom or not?
Perhaps more stamina? Not sure.

6. Focus; does reduced/stopped masturbation decrease or increase your ability to focus on things?
I don't think masturbation has affected my focus one way or the other.

7. Do you believe that is is harmful or healthy? I.E. Reduce chances of certain cancers, mental health, stress or makes you go blind and grow hair on the palms of your hands?
Not harmful for sure. Probably healthy? Never looked it up.

8. Is it different now opposed to when you were younger?
Oh yeah. When I was younger it was constant. Like three times a day some days.

1. Male
2. About 3 times a week
3. Nope
4. I haven't really got particularly high appetite like others at my age
5. I've heard on different accounts that bad techniques can cause negative effects while having Sex, especially if you constantly rush yourself.
6. Depends, maybe both in one way or another
7. Healthy. In Males, Semen is full of proteins which is a breeding ground for infections even if you aren't sexually active, have been told this by Urologists. It's also documented for lowering the risk Prostate Cancers.
8. I'm older and doing it a little less adds overall enjoyment

Eh?
