They're both pretty evil Microsoft are the most evil I'd say. If I have to choose I'll go Microsoft because out of the two I use Microsoft products. I have an iPod but I'd be happy with a generic MP3 player, it was a gift.
Are we talking about the companies or the products made by said companies? If it's the choice over which is less "evil" I'd say Apple, if the choice is over products I'd say Microsoft.

Microsoft, if only because I use more of their products. The only Apple product I use is iTunes. And Windows 7, Xbox 360 etc. trumps iTunes.

The Apple OS is the most expensive OS ever, considering the horrendously overpriced hardware required, if you are going to use it legally, i.e. not Hackingtosh.
A generic MP3 Player is as good, if not better, than an iPod.
Also, the iPhone and iPad are as anti-consumer as it gets.
I'm fairly interested in the Microsoft Surface. Seems good. And, for all the shit that Windows 8 gets, the tablet-style layout is great for touch-screens, and if you don't like it, you can always switch over to the classic desktop layout.
But of the two, I choose Microsoft.

On the other hand, Microsoft Windows, for all the crap thrown at it, is actually a pretty reliable OS, and more importantly, it's easy enough to build upon. Lemme put it this way: When I was in Afghanistan, fire mission data didn't come down on a Mac. Oh, and those PCs would be on for days at a time, often longer than a week, without any problems.
