Poll: Minecraft or a 3DS

A 3DS is probably better in the long run, considering it's going to get MGS3, Resident Evil gaames, Luigi's Mansion 2, and a lot more. But it seems like price really isn't much of a concern to you, so why don't you just get both?

some things to consider.

if you want to be involved in the community building stuff, then sure Minecraft will kill a bunch of your free time.
If you're not really into the community idea, then probably the 3DS. Not to mention the whole DS games catalog to choose from.

There are some interesting games coming to the 3DS, but not a lot of information is available about them (to my knowledge)

I'd say save your money and get Minecraft and a DSlite with games. If you already got a DS console then get minecraft. the 3DS isn't going anywhere, and in another year and a halfish they'll be releasing a better version of the 3DS anyway. That's the one I'm waiting for.

3DS or skip minecraft and get terraria.

Minecraft is good for building stuff but theres a hell of a lot more to terraria, you can actualyl go outside at night for example. There isn't anythign explodey as a general enemy meaning you don't risk your house every time you open your door (yes i know its less dangerous but it got very VERY annoying minecraft)

You still lose stuff for dying but not as much, so you can take risks and explore more.

And its about the same price.

[EDIT] Oh if you get a 3ds get Ghost Recon :Shadow Wars, it is a VERY good turn based straegy game, lots of mission (done 40 so far and not at the end yet), some fun skirmish missions and a decent bit of content, for some reason it has zero advertising but was the best of hte launch games :/

You at least have a vague idea of when the 3DS' games will release, and you know that games are going to keep being released.

C*nts can't DDoS hack a 3DS. And if they somehow did, Nintendo would give a forthcoming effort (or at least a damn) to resume services and arrest the hackers.

A DDoS is so simple to perform you should be mad at the companies who's servers are so shoddy and still expect you to trust them with your money.

Also, the hackers have hacked the FBI and CIA so it's not like Nintendo can swoop in to the rescue on them.

They hacked the public facing side of their sites. That's all. For the Senate, CIA, and the FBI, you can hardly call that hacking those organizations.

Minecraft's replay value runs out after you realize you've done everything you want to do.

No they won't. The DS Lite came out two years after the release of the DS phat. Have fun waiting a few years, you're going to be missing out on all these upcoming games.

Both . IMO a 3DS is well worth buying, but Minecraft is something that every PC gamer should at least try. Minecraft is cheap, so maybe buy that first and get a 3DS if your still bored. Otherwise - I'd say maybe hold off on buying a 3DS until there are more games available.

That's what I'm doing anyway, I'm waiting on vital games, and not games that I can already play on an emulator for free.

Minecraft. if you've already played Ocarina, there's no point playing it in 3D. plus 3DS is a fricking headache inducing machine. Minecraft is fun. now im not one for hating on Nintendo but i don't think 3D or motion controls will lead down any sort of future. plus Minecraft is updated. with NEW things. Nintendo just re-releases its back catalogue and then brings out an inferior sequel (Metroid: Other M, just try and argue). It's hard to defend Nintendo. but based on fun factor, Minecraft, because it's cheaper, comes with free extras, and you can mess around with it.

lets see, the 3DS was released end of March in the US? So far it has been out for 3 months I said a year and a half ish giving me +/- 3 months

unless my math is incorrect, 3 months + 1 year 6 months + 3 months is 2 years. look at that. I r smart.

Also, you say that last part like the games will disappear from existence after a month on the shelf. That's not how it works. Sure I don't play them new, but I still play them.

I waited for the GBASP and I waited for the DSlite. I have no problem waiting for the 3DS M2.

That depends. Do you have a DS already? Do you have an N64, Gamecube, or Wii? If the answer is yes to both of these, don't waste your time with a 3DS and just get Minecraft before they raise the price again.

There are tons of good games on the way. The launch was weak but most launches are. As far as I know, these games won't be playable on N64 emulators.
