So, I just finished playing Mirror's Edge. (yeah, I know, a little late, but I got it really cheap!) Fairly decent game according to me, it's fun to run around on the rooftops, it's just that you don't get to do that often enough. Surely a game about Parkour should envolve a lot more free running than Mirror's Edge did. But it was still a cool idea and concept.
So that got me thinking; what if they made a sequel where they learned from their mistakes? More free running, open spaces and no guns. Also, multiplayer would be an interesting idea...
what's you oppinion? Should they try on sequel pants, or just let it slink away to die?

Most certainly they should give it a shot. It was a game that had an innovative idea, but was held back by fixable setbacks. They should listen to their community, fix the most glaring problems, and release a new one. Apart from story continuation, this is my second biggest support for sequels.

There's an old saying: You can't polish a turd. Mirror's Edge was by most accounts a turd, and polish ain't gonna fix it.

It would be better if they scrapped the whole thing and released a new title that focused on not repeating or refining their mistakes.

If there is any game that deserves a sequel, it is Mirror's Edge.

Story- meh
Gameplay- interesting but meh
design- fucking genius

Honestly, that is one of the few Videogames that gets close to being called art.

I'm going to sound like an echo here but...yes it was a great game, i enjoyed playing through it, the gamemakers should listen to the community and make a few treaks. You could quite easily make another story from the Mirrors Edge universe, in fact i think they should take it further- add some more interesting buildings and locations- further add some more "events" and background narratives. Doing that would make the game much more interesting.

I never had a chance to play it. However, I'm very interested in the concept.

If Multiplayer is implicated, I would like it to look like the new Assasin's creed brotherhood multiplayer. Simple cat and mouse run around.

That. or somekind of race to the finish with levels that are never the same .

When I first saw the trailer for Mirror's Edge...

I thought our savior had descended.

Make the sequel everything that the first one promised and I'm down.

That game gets major props from me because its the first game that features Parkour the way its meant to be used - Running for your titting life!

I would love to see it tried again. Amazing!

Well, I'm sort of on both sides. Yeah, it was kind of fun and the whole first person plat-former thing was innovative, but I died way to often because I didn't know where my feet were. In real life, when running, you don't have to see your feet because you can feel where they are, but in Mirror's edge, you don't have that advantage. Maybe make it third person, or something? I don't know how to fix that problem, but that's what would keep me from playing a second one.

The first game was really fun and still left tons and tons of room for improvement. It should definitely get a sequel!

Why is everybody complaining about not being able to see your feet?
after 30 seconds i would perfectly know when to jump and controls seemed natural
also it added immersion.

Hell yeah! The first one is one of the top 20 games ever made in my opinion.
It was amazing! One of the few non-RPG's that I've played over and over and over an...

Yes it should. Mirror's Edge 2 is on the top of my "Wanted" games list. I really enjoyed the first one, so I would like them to make a sequel so that they can fix the problems it had.

I think that it could be fantastic if they changed two things:

-Use 3rd person perspective instead of 1st.
Interesting idea, but it just makes things more confusing than anything. Precision platforming in a game needs to be done from the 3rd person. I think that it would be so much nicer to actually see Faith running and jumping all over the place than just having a first person viewport.

-Use course correction similar to what the RAGE or Titanium Engine does.
The Rage Engine has this really neat feature that allows for a decrease in the amount of precision required to grab a ledge or land feet-first on a narrow beam. This would decrease the level of frustration and allow for more free-flowing parkour routines. As it stands right now parkour is used more for not dying than anything. The whole essence of parkour is free-flowing motion. Dying every 20 seconds is not "free-flowing."

I love the ideas behind Mirror's Edge, but the game itself was dissapointing. However most games that end up "dissapointing" get put on the shelf and forgotten about after a level or two, but Mirror's Edge was genuinely interesting enough to compel me to finish it (and it was good fun playing swaps on the time trials too with a friend and some strong alcoholic beverages ^_^)

If I were asked to give a list of games from this gen that I think deserve a sequel, Mirror's Edge would be topping the list.
I'd love to see them develop the idea further.

If they make every level like the prologue of the first (in that you can basically go through the entire thing without slowing down) I'd buy it, but if it's still the 'spending half your time in small tunnels that force you to go slow, then no.

Yes, I think a sequel is a great idea. Mirror's Edge had some interesting and innovative ideas. Sure there were flaws but the flaws it had are fixable.

Story wise though i'm not sure where they can go with it, but I think that a Mirror's Edge 2 could be a very, very good game indeed. Not that the first one wasn't mind.
