[i did check the forums to see if this was done before sorry if i missed it]
COD4, i get someone into last stand. i run into a sniper who has a pistool out. someone equipped with a G3 spots me
all of these events will end in me dying from a MODed controller. a G3 should not fire at the speed of a MP5. same with pistols firing at the speed of a LMG but with no recoil
dont know about anyone else, but i hate this

I hate it, it bugs me so much when someone is on my team and they've got an automatic G3, and they think they're really good to. If you were so good, you wouldn't need a modded controller now would you?

Depends on what you're talking about. Modding Rock Band drum sets to have two kick pedals so humans can play the Expert songs, and covering the pads with socks to protect them from damage? That's all cool. Modding game contollers into old arcade-style boxes to play fighting games? That's cool too. I suspect that's not what you are talking about though.

He's talking about turbo controllers, which allow you to fire semi-automatic weapons just as fast as an automatic, just by pulling the trigger. This allows you to burn through a pistol magazine in less than a second and fire a powerful weapon like the G3 or M14 (since we're talking about CoD4) so fast that you're almost guaranteed a hit or kill if you're pointing in their general direction.

I hate running into people who can rapid-fire semi-auto guns for more than 8 rounds. I can burn through the mag of a Deagle in CoD4 in under a second, but that's just because I'm twitchy. I could never get that down while using the G3, though.

Ah. That's not cool at all then.

The developers don't see it as a problem, so why should I?
I mean, they could have given those weapons a firespeed limit if you're not supposed to do it.

Right, because developers always consider every possible cheating option ahead of time and work to cover them.

They've had multiple patches to fix this, the single player version of the G3 has a slow automatic firing mode, and something like this would have been found in some of the earliest beta tests if they had any competent testers. So either they don't care, or they consider it a feature.

I don't really care if a person uses a modded controller if they are playing single player, but if they are playing a multiplayer game with a modded controller, I consider it cheating. I despise those controllers.

Ones that input a command faster then humanly possible is cheating, like if in the Olympics swimmers had propellers on their feet or if Gymnast used some sort of spring on their hand.

I think there was some sort of "modded" controls for Counter Strike. Set scroll down/up to "fire", get dual pistols and scroll when you see someone. They have NO chances of survival if you aim correctly.

the point of a semi auto is that it fires as fast as you pull the trigger
putting a limit on would defeat the purpose on the theory that there may be someone that can find the limit that you have to pull the trigger to shoot, and twitch around there till it fires that fast
so designers cant really stop mods on the theory that its unfair to someone

Balanced a bit by the recoil of the weapon.

Doesn't mean there shouldn't be a limit though. All semi-auto weapons have some of the highest damage per shot in the game, that doesn't mean they should fire as fast as an M249 or P90.
