I think there was some sort of "modded" controls for Counter Strike. Set scroll down/up to "fire", get dual pistols and scroll when you see someone. They have NO chances of survival if you aim correctly.
Balanced a bit by the recoil of the weapon.
Yeah, but considering it fires all bullets in one fraction of a second, even a huge recoil won't help. First 2-3 bullets will be deadly, especially since he's using duals.

Bloody G3'S this happened to me countless times, they are unbeatable but obvious to spot. The next time I see the dude with the modded controller I frag him and let him push his buttons all he likes, hehe... Boom!

It annoys me, but it's worth mentioning that some people can fire really fast legitimately. It is easy to tell them apart most of the time though.

I posted a response to this in the other thread.

Its not "cheating" it is electing to use a different controller other than the Microsoft one.

If people are going to start lumping different controllers into "cheating" and "legit" categories what are the criteria?
If it allows you to fire inhumanly fast, that's cheating. It isn't fair that someone can get all these kills because he has money to burn on a turbo controller.

I use a moded controller for all my 360 FPS games. I resoldered it to swap the right and left sticks so I can have lefty controls for those devs who are too shortsighted to add the option.

But it isn't a turbo? That's fine then, as it just gives you the same advantage we Righties have.

You actually don't need a 'modded' controller to do this, Just top RT really fast. You can do it with the .50 cal too. It's really easy.

If you aim correctly in the first place only one shot should be needed :p

This.
This.
I think it would be going a bit too far to say its cheating per se; I would call it an unfair advantage if anything... :p

It's cheating and I wish those who use it an ironic death involving a bear.

Are we just talking Turbo mods? Yea, screw them.

If you're lazy enough to be a game-junkie, then at least have enough energy to pull the damn trigger every time you want the thing to fire. Don't waste your money on mod controllers. Nobody will love you, or be impressed by your souped-up piece of plastic.

Depends on what you're talking about. Modding Rock Band drum sets to have two kick pedals so humans can play the Expert songs, and covering the pads with socks to protect them from damage? That's all cool. Modding game contollers into old arcade-style boxes to play fighting games? That's cool too. I suspect that's not what you are talking about though.
Yeah theres a big difference between modding for the purpose of cheating, and modding a controller for modding sake.

Example, I always weight my controllers, because I love heavy controllers compared to the light plastic ones you get. However, I wouldnt use a Turbo mod cause its giving you an unfair advantage over people.

I don't mind modded/different controllers, but I don't play COD4. I suspect that this particular game could benefit from a patch to make sure that people aren't able to achieve unfair results from modded controllers. It shouldn't be possible to fire a weapon faster than someone can tap the button.

being shoved somewhere awkward?

We should chop off their trigger finger(s) and force them to play a game. or disable their UAV and force them to play bloc against a team of snipers where they have to stay in the centre area

Wouldn't that be a disadvantage, how do you jump while aiming?
It's a bit tricky, but it is doable. You simply have to switch to hitting face buttons with your right index finger, rather than your thumb (middle finger switching to trigger duty). This practice may give me a bit of an advantage actually, as I don't ever have to take a finger off of the analog sticks :)

It's a hardware hack, this kind of thing should get you banned but it's quite difficult to spot as it makes no changes to the coding of the game.

It would be easy to fix though if all the weapons were simply coded with a maximum fire rate and a dead time connected directly to the reload animation. Both have been around for ages in many other shooters to stop this kind of thing.

Not all mods are created equal. Some mods are plain unfair, like this turbo trigger situation you've outlined, OP, and some mods are just fine, like how I mod-ed my 360 controllers so that the D-Pads weren't complete shite.
