A question about MW1, yes 1.

I get a lot of spite for using the grenade launcher, from the usual "tube noob" to getting kicked off the server.

Now I like this weapon, I love its ballistic arc. Mastering it takes more skill than most people think, especially at a distance.

I know most people dislike it because it's a one-shot-one-kill weapon, but if you miss, the reload time is gruesome
(much like the knife, but I don't hear anyone complain about this weapon).

And I don't see why a grenade launcher is wrong while there is nothing wrong with a regular grenade.

Why are so many people complaining about this? The developers put it in there and until they take it out, I will continue to love and use this weapon.

I love the grenade launcher is my second favorite add-on for a weapon. The first being the MW2 heartbeat sensor

Especially if you can get a shot off at the enemy spawn within 5 seconds, fun times

People just complained because they sucked at using it, and it caught on and "Noob-Tube" is a common word Middle Schoolers Use every day, followed by many curses and swears.

I think one of the biggest reasons people hate it is because of guys like this ^. I don't mind you using it if you know where I am, but launching it across the level at the start of the game is no better than glitching to win.

Yea but the odds of hitting anyone are astronomical. It's not like I'm in any way cheating. I am using the equipment I have in the most effective way to get kills. Which is what we are all trying to do in the end.

It doesent have much of a radius unless your using sonic boom or danger close, but what isnt fair is the fact that it totally unavoidable if it gets lobbed at you. It requires absolutely zero skill or foresight to use and I personally find it to be an overused pain in the arse that cuts my killstreaks unfairly.

What really pissed me off in CoD4 is when people starting making the 'Use martyrdom = BAN' rules. I had a class that was purely for putting pressure on an enemy team so I'd have a 'nade launcher for doing multiple kills, rush into a building that they're holding, die, martyrdom kills them.

Why is it so hard for people to adapt their play accordingly? If you hate getting hit by grenade launchers, don't move around in the open and especially not in groups. If you hate getting killed by martyrdom, don't go near bodies right after they've been killed. If you don't like campers, GO A DIFFERENT WAY AROUND.

EDIT:

Hate to sound like an arse but if you could let me know how you can dodge bullets once the trigger has been fired so that my kill streaks aren't ended unfairly, I'd really appreciate it.

It really depends. If someone else is using it, then I hate it. If im using it I have fun making the other team break their controllers.

The pro-pipe, eh? I saw a video on Machinima I think where a guy went around saying how good it was and ended the game with a score of like 3:40 or something K:D. Think he may have been taking the piss.

Insta kill=Lacks fun
Also requires extremely little skill (I don't know what the hell your talking about difficulty over longer ranges, it's piss easy.)
All of that = No fun, and a cheap weapon.

It's cheap because it robs the fun of everyone else but your self.

On martydom, I've banned many a user from my server that used it on CERTAIN MAPS.
I say this because the server was on Hardcore, so you die easily, and all people would do is sprint around like idiots trying to knife people. This never works, but the only reason they do it is because the indicator for a grenade doesn't show up, and you die easily.

No skill required, it in fact requires that you commit suicide to get a kill.
So even if you are better then the player, he'll still be a cheap ass and kill you because when he dies he drops a nade with a 2 second delay. by one second in you've heard the sound and are about to turn, and on the 2 second, you're still in range of the nade and you die.

Fucking idiotic, I don't give a damn if I'm spammed "It's part of the game use it" it was a broken element, just like the Akimbo 1887 of the current generation. They fixed that.

Dev's make mistakes, get over it.

*Edit

Also, to those you complain about being ban. It's our money, our server, don't like it leave.

We can make just about any rules we want, this isn't BF2, there are no base Server rules.

It takes little skill to use, and most people just fire it randomly hoping for a kill. You may as well roll some dice and if they both land on 6, God smites someone randomly on the other team.

I probably wouldn't mind them as much if COD wasn't such a linear shooter, the maps are tiny and there's limited ways to get around so people just camp different places and noob tube anyone that comes by. On a more open shooter (Battlefield, Crysis etc), there's usually a way around. That's one of the reasons I don't play COD, it's too dumbed down.

This is true. I don't find the noob tube very fun to use anyway, but I have friends that do, and I know that they'd rather have the noob tube out of the game and sacrifice their fun at the benefit of not having the other team use it against them, and if there was a game mode that took out noob tubes, martyrdom, grenades etc, they'd play it.

I find it to be a good anti-camper weapon, you get killed by a guy sat in a corner with a shotgun.. how else are you supposed to kill him?? Just fire a grenade in there and bam sweet, sweet, revenge.

I don't actually think it's that great of a weapon, but when it's in the hands of someone who knows how to use it really well (and who has 4-bar connection), it can feel "overpowered" to a regular old chum like me...

to be honest, i gotta say that in MW1 or MW2, grenade launchers are opportunistic weapons. You have to know what the heck you're doing, or you'll miss. If you don't know the arc, your enemies will just start shooting at you and turn you into swiss cheese. And anyways, you have to get 20 kills with a GL to unlock my favorite attachment in MW2: the underbarrel shotgun. If you put it on a FAMAS, I hope your enemies know what their doing, because nowhere is safe.

I'd be more likely to complain about how many people use stopping power. I like using cold-blooded because it makes me more or less immune to choppers and AI-driven guns (very important, considering how many people get those dang things).

If it's a weapon in a game, you should be able to use it. To hell with anyone else.

The 'nade launcher in itself, I have no problem with. Taking out campers, getting to people you can't fire at straightly... that's cool.

But when I see someone put on the 'nade launcher the instant they spawn, and run around until they see an enemy and get a kill by just firinge in his general direction... Then I hate it. Then it's noobish.

It's not the weapon itself, it's how people use it, that pissess me off.

I really don't see where the OP is going. Skill? Not at all.

Yes, it takes a lot of practice to get the "halfway across the map" shot to hit home, but once you get it and can fire at enemy spawn point, you are just being cheap, especially in S&D. Yeah, maybe it takes skill, but in those situations, you don't have to weigh your skills against the enemy.

Yeah I loved that attachment. Never used it in Multiplayer though as I never played Multiplayer.

good for clearing campers-not so good when the campers use it on you....
