I honestly think that Red Steel 2 did a good job with the motion controls on the Wii, but most other games are poorly thought out or take the Microsoft and Sony approach of having the game in a third person perspective so instead of immersing you into the game (which I'm almost certain was the idea in the first place), pulls you out of the experience and hit you around the head with the knowledge that you are an idiot that is standing in his room swinging about a piece of plastic (or waving your hands about with Kenict) as he watches an avatar preforms the exact same actions with a greater sense of style. So past sword swinging and possibly spell casting, there is very little that you can do in the way of improving a games experience with motion controls.

And this E3 just made me very, very annoyed. I mean, the Wii sucks enough as it is. But now that ol' Microsoft is trying to get in on Nintendo's inexplicably lucrative formula, motion control gimmicks are about to get a whole lot dumber.

I feel like they are running out of ideas, they are basically making futuristic Nintendo Light Guns. While the light gun had its niche, it shouldn't be the basis of all the games. I don't like where this trend is heading. But it seems they only are targeting these things at casual players. (family fun night kinda stuff)

While I don't care for it, I think it will never really OVERCOME hardcore gaming.

I don't like the motion controls at all at the moment but I believe that they may be a step towards something really awesome. Like the Wii, I hate the Wii-motes but you need to make mistakes to improve on it next time.

I think the exact same thing microsoft and sony are just stealing the Wii's spot light.
As for the motion controls i don't have a problem with them, i'm indifferent.

And I don't really follow motion controls, my roommate has a Wii, but I'm usually being all antisocial with my PC to use it.

I refuse to like it until I can feel the dagger enter the flesh of an enemy.

Always will be a gimmick and nothing more. Until you create full VR games, keep the motion controls out, I'm sick of shake wrist/destroy world mechanics.

The day you get some kind of realistic force-feedback system, I think it'll be the greatest thing ever. That being said, I think we're looking at holodeck level technology before we get anything like that...

Yeah I say this quite a lot. Most of us get home from whatever obligatory shit we've been doing all day, whether it be school, the job we hate but can't find another, etc. We're mentally and physically exhausted, we want to lay on the couch and play some games. We do not want to have an aerobic workout, we do not want to dance around like a lunatic, we do not want to wave our arms like we're having a seizure, and if we did want to do any of those things then we sure as hell wouldn't do them while standing in front of the TV set. Sometimes games play better with motion controls. A shining example (or what would be one, if not for the bugginess of the Wii hardware) is Okami. But mostly, I can do without motion controls, as can most of the rest of us, thank you very much.

I wish they would go where they belong, as a minor side feature.

I liked how the PS3 used it to set a bomb or turn a valve, or effected the shake of a sniper rifle in Killzone 2.

Or how it could be used to help steer the planes in Warhawk.

Small little features part of a grand whole.

This crap with making games entirely around flailing around like your epileptic irritates me. I don't enjoy hyper extending my arm just to swing a damn sword. The only reason why i enjoyed mario kart so much was because you could use the classic controller.

Now that people are talking about some PS3 move crap its probably the first time I have truly be disappointed with Sony's decision about its console. Jumping on a bandwagon trying to grab that quick Wii buck that there not going to get because no one is going to buy a 300 system to play the four or five games that will be family friendly.

At this time, my feelings towards motion controls are as such. I don't care if they stay in the market and either improve over time or stay the same, or if they die away like a failed experiment. I honestly don't care. I don't even own anything that uses motion controls.
