I've always used the name Kumori, its the name of an original character I created for who the hell knows what. I just draw the character all the time. He's just a red-haired guy with a red shirt and black pants.

Some times I use a proper fantasy name, mostly I just use hilariously generic names ie: Paul, Jim, Tom, Frank is a particular favourite. Hearing people praise the great hero Frank is amusing to me.

I always do the same two names:
'Daes Taris' Or 'Tanus Khuun'.
Did you get those from the name generator from Knights of the Old Republic?
Nope!

'Daes' came as a rewording of the band 'Deas Vail'. 'Taris' just jumped into my head.
'Tanus' comes from the Tanis Station in Homeworld 2. And 'Khuun' was the awesome last name of a girl I once knew!
Oh. I saw Taris and Khuun, and I immediately thought of my first time creating a character, desperately looking for a good randomly generated name.

My first Zelda account was called QQQQQQZZZZZRRRR because I was 4 years old at the time, but usually I just use my own name.

I usually use the names of characters in stories I'm working on. A few of them get used a lot.
I also like to use obscure myth and history references.

I name ny characters either something cool or me and my friends names.

This one friend of mine was very pissed after he saw that his name had been applied to a female spell caster. Since then I've always attached my name to the spell caster.

Depends, I usually use my own name on single player, but if it's multi-player, I try to find a name with a hidden meaning on this site: http://www.behindthename.com/

Usually when I play an RPG I'll think of a name for a moment and if I can't think of one I'll usually just put in my name. =P

I usually try and come up with a name that suits the character. Failing that, I'll just use 'Ash' IDK why I just like the name.
Although in Chrono Trigger I've been naming all the characters after Dragon Ball characters, for obvious reasons.
Crono = Goku
Marle = Chi chi
Lucca = Bulma
Robo = Gil (The dub I saw of Dragon Ball GT had the little robot/dragon radar's name as 'Gil' so I went with that)
Frog = Gohan
Ayla = Launch
Magus = Vegeta

Thankfully they've given me more spaces to use for names in the DS remake.

i usually cant be bothered to think of a name, so i just either use the stock name(s) or my own name for the main character. the most inventive ive ever been is naming my characters in final fantasy 3. i named them link, zant, zelda and ganon

I name them after me, or another name I use. In games like Ooblivion I try to make the character look like me too. Needless to say, it takes a lot of work.
