^ 2 dozen and not a single one? o0 Fair enough, ya gave it a shot.

Well, if you feel like trying it again here's some I reccomend (these are the ones il be playing for sure once its reinstalled):
A knife through the dark (first time I ever played a female pc)
Kunoichis tale.
*insert mod name here* The one that continues the evil ending of nwn and has you starting out as one of the lords of the nine circles trying to bring down the very gods themselves.

Granted this was when I was younger, but have fond memories of these and a few other mods.
Ah well, at least we can both agree Nwn2 mods were worst :p

We are all aware that Neverwinter Nights 2 was made by Obsidian, not Bioware, right?

And, Obsidian are indeed American.
Yes, but as Catkid is looking to get into them, the last thing I'd personally recommend to him is NWN2. Best to go with some actual Bioware stuff.

I forgot to mention that in my post though, my bad.
Ah... Sorry then. I just wanted to make sure you didn't confuse the poor kid.

Don't forget to recommend Knights of the Old Republic.

i loathed the NWN games ... all of them.

i felt the modular design was clunky, the story just plodded along, the classes and characters were unremarkable, the pacing was horrendous and the enemies ranged from utterly worthless to completely boring.

i forced myself to finish the first one. i got the 2nd as a gift and quickly uninstalled the thing when i realized every complaint i had about the first game existed in the second.

I absolutely adored it, enough if I did spend most of the time in character creation. JEEZE.

I liked it, evne completed it twice. On the other hand I found the original drab and had to force myself to finish it just for the hell of it. Expansions for the 1st one were much better/more fun then the original so I did like those. Based on just "vanilla" versions I chose the first poll option.

I played it for a while then just dropped it for no reason. I have to agree with people saying it just felt "off"

I started NWN, but never finished it. I just never really enjoyed it, and I don't know why.

NWN2 I found much better and have completed it four or five times. MotB is one of the best expansions to a game I've ever played, if not for the fact that it gears itself to melee characters so much it would be near perfect. (timer thing is annoying, but can be handled)

SoZ tried to make the game more like pen and paper d&d, which for some is great, but wasn't really my thing. The only part of that I enjoyed (apart from the extra races/classes/spells etc) was the trade thing. This expansion was really about introducing new mechanics with a campaign thrown on top.

Mask of the Betrayer was fantastic. I loved the story, the characters, the ambiance and the setting, everything was absolutely perfect except for the fact it was an expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2, which unfortunately has more than its fair share of gameplay flaws.

It tries hard to be a sort of compromise between Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, but only comes out feeling weaker for it. Obsidian really should have just gone all out in either one direction or the other. Either make it BG gameplay or NWN, you can't have both it seems!

That said, singleplayer wise, NWN2 is better than the original I'd say if only because the singleplayer campaign is NWN and its expansions were all thoroughly mediocre. Multiplayer wise NWN2 wasn't even close to the original, but considering I never much gave a damn about NWN's multiplayer, that doesn't really bother me. The editor for NWN2 is also really good. I read a couple complaints in this topic about it, saying it was too complex. And it is compared to the original games editor, that's true. But the sheer volume of options given with NWN2's editor is astounding. Everything about the game, both visually and script-wise, is malleable.

The result is that while there are less mods for NWN2 compared to the original, the quality of the mods being released for NWN2 is astounding. The recently released 'Misery Stone' for example could easily be its own expansion, and has a vibe completely different than that of the original game it's modded onto. Something impossible with the original NWN.

I never finished with it either.

I got it, and never got past that mission where you have to open some gate by befriending all the guards, taking out half the crime in the city, and killing some goblin tribe thing...

I played 2 and enjoyed it (without expansions) I have been looking for 1 but can not find it unfortunately. So I don't really have an option on the poll that fits.

I need a more moderate poll option! I liked NWN and NWN 2 about the same. In one i felt more of a personal connection to my character, but two had better controls and let me play as all of the members of my party, so I didn't have to do more than one playthrough. Also I guess the story for two was a bit better. But it was jerky too (on my computer). So meh, even.

Both NWN1 and NWN2 are pretty bland. Strangely enough, they are both only really worth having for a fantastic expasion (Hordes of the Underdark, Mask of the Betrayer).

Oh man, I tried Mask of the Betrayer again. Wow, the gameplay REALLY suffers after playing Dragon Age: Origins. It's very obvious how much worse all the gameplay mechanics are compared to DA:O, it's really hard to put up with it.

Where's the "It was ok. Far better than the original." option? Can't vote without it.

I'm actually extremely surprised at this thread. I expected to see people praising NWN's online community and modding, but people are actually praising the campaign? This is the first time I've seen anyone actually say they enjoy NWN official campaign. Everyone I know and have talked to about it hates it with a passion. It's one of the worst stories ever in my opinion, it's Biowares one and only failure. NWN2 had a pretty bland story, farm boy destined to save the world, *yawn*. The much more interesting characters made up for it a bit, making it an ok game. MotB is a really good game, storywise. The fact that you're playing high level characters in a horribly broken system takes some of the enjoyment away, but it's still good.
