if this wasnt just about money then they would have capped the captcha once you reach like 500 or so posts, meaning they would just turn it off since by that point its rather obvious your not just a spam botdogstile said:

As I tend to 'burst post' (i.e posting in several threads in a short time period) it crops up more often than I'd want it to.
The other problem, and I cant stress this enough, is that this site is a gaming culture site. If I have to watch 10seconds of an advert before I can skip it why is the advert not something related to gaming instead of a kitchen cleaner?

the worst part is that the system isn't perfect in keeping spam bots out.
also I get that the Escapist wants to make money but this is going to far.

The only remotely good thing about the Captchas here is that they at least don't look like the ones YouTube uses, that are all crooked and bent so I have to reload 6 fucking times over to even get an image I can decipher.
Although that doesn't change the fact that Captcha's here seem to pop up every second or third message I post, and really, when did spambots start invading The Escapist?

If anyone is jumping with glee because you have adblock, keep it to yourself. Promoting adblock is against forum rules.
OT: I haven't seen one yet, but, seriously, there are better ways to advertise that don't evoke so much justified anger and hate.

I found that nice.

and you know, atleast the other captcha system actually does something productive by helping translate books into text, all this does is make you guys money
I have no idea what you guys are talking about or even what a captcha is. I'm in the Pub Club. I've always been able to post without any problems. I'm starting to think that perhaps this was a new system implemented for free users? Sounds pretty stupid to me.
