So now that Total War has come full circle with the release of Shogun 2 Total War, which game do in the Total War IP do you want to see get a reboot? OR do you want the Creative Ensemble to make a whole new Total War game? Or maybe a whole new IP? Please specify which one in the polls and comments. Personally, I want to see Rome Total War 2. I really love the setting and the battles but I really hated the campaign mechanics.

Inb4 cries for more Rome.

I want to see something new. I'd be curious to see what they'd do with WW2, might shake up the traditional formula up a bit. Although it'd probably be shit.

I'd like another game with the same premis/gameplay of Spartan: Total Warrior.

That would be awesome.

I'm afraid I just cant see a Total War game with WWII or any modern war. Total War is supposed to give you massive amounts of units in formation filling the field and dying by the hundred. I just cant see that with the squad mechanics of WWII. The naval battles, on the other hand, would be epic.

a new, greece-heavy "rome" would be awesome. or make it greece: total war entirely. yes, i am dreaming of you, Troy... ^^

or just re-release Rome, with graphics updated and a few tweaks here and there. i'd so totally buy it!

modern age (1940s - present day)wouldn't work well, i guess. also, i have seen enogh ww2 for a lifetime (yesm looking at you, FPSes).
maybe WW1 might work; although the static warfare might not be very exciting, action-wise. then again, if you're out for action, C&C or starcraft are better suited for you (i could live with static warfare. i am lazy, regarding apm)

and don't you dare making a future: total war or total war 2142!! that just wouldn't be right.

China

There's a really good mod for Rome which takes place during the Warring States Period. It could also be set around 1200 AD so you could split China into three, have the Mongols to the North, and some kingdoms in South East Asia.

How about Middle Earth Total War? Am I the only one who thinks that would be awesome? I know that the "Battle for Middle Earth" games were close to that, but they were not nearly on the same scale and complexity as Total War...

There's a LOTR mod for Medieval 2, that was pretty cool.

Yes, that would be awesome - like how Galactic Battlegrounds was Star Wars Age of Empires. I myself would favor a prehistoric version for sheer, beautiful epicness.

Up until recently I would've said Victoria: Total War, but I started playing Victoria II so I don't need that anymore. I was tempted to say Rome, but I think the original is good enough. I think CA should try something new. World War I or II. The developers have hinted that they're interested in it so I think they should give it a shot.

I've never played a Total War so I shall use this thread as a basis for which game I will start with.

For me it would probably be Rome 2 but given that they have already made two expansions for it there has to be something new. The simplicity of Rome is what made it, for me, the best of the lot (that said i haven't played most of them). The scale of battles helps the general experience of the game, a modern one will downsize battles, eradicate the need for generals as before and make the campaign too much of a tech race.
You can't blame them for doing re-makes, there is only so much history you can make into an rts game.

ROME 2!!!

I would not be excited enough for Rome Total War 2! That would be phenomenal! As long as they don't do what they did with Medieval or Empire and have the exact same units for all of the different factions (understanding historical limits of course), I think this game would be absolutely amazing!

Look up, "Third Age: Total War". It's a mod for Kingdoms, the single largest and most thorough total conversion mods ever released. Completely reworks Kingdoms to Middle Earth, new units, textures, factions and map.

OT : Hmm... Well, on the one hand, I'd love to see what they can do with the series just by their own creativity, with some evolution.

On the other, I'd adore a Rome 2. Get the same treatment that Shogun 2 got, but clean up the bigger issues like the trickle reinforcements, and actually have unit variety this time, just like the old Rome.

Retrofit the new advances, and add on the stuff that needs fixing. I'd love to see the game Rome deserves to be in this decade.

Empire: Total War 2. I had so much fun with the beta MP campaign with a great friend of mine, but the constant desynch problem was hugely annoying, then came Napoleon which for the most part fixed that issue but was so limiting in factions/units etc., at least in MP Campaign. And now there is Shogun 2 which holds absolutely zero interest for me.

Earth Total War.

Encompassing all the previous games' factions, timelines and tech.

It will start in say 1000BC and end in 1901AD.

Simply put. Why not?
