Part of me wants to see the Total War team take another crack at a futuristic setting, then I remember Stormrise and want to curl up in a corner and cry. Seriously though I'd like to see what would happen if these guys got their hands on the rights to something like Dawn of War. Never gonna happen though so I'll just say 'Galactic Total War'?

Total war: America they could do revolutionary war and the civil war maybe even span-am war oh forgot about 1812 i would certainly buy it. French American war would work to.
I say, make Total War modular. Start with the earliest period, with the units, countries, and history therefrom, but separate the graphics engine and actual gameplay. Then start creating new Total War games using the same system, where any changes to the graphics and gameplay systems can be instantly ported back, and eventually you'll have a Total War Anthology covering the entirety of human history.
WW2 can't fit into a formula of rock paper scisors, and WW1 is mostly trenches, machine guns and meat coming off a live foot due to poor conditions in the trenches.
I think that they should branch out and do a bit of fantasy. they could try and use an already firm base of a fantasy realm with its own factions and history, for example 'A song of Ice and Fire' could be a nice setup of such a game.
They could try and make the midle ages properly (from fall of the empire till hastings not covered, 5??-1066), but I can't see any new and exiting ventures in our history (Unless they plan to make 10000BC). So make an alternate reality! Go wild. Do whatever you want as long as the customers won't rip you to shreads, because I can feel a dreadful formula coming together here.
