Moderate Spoiler Alert!

I've played Halo: Reach for a bit and realized something, Bungie tried to get you to like the members of Noble Team. That got me thinking, which member did the Escapist community like best? Note that you cannot choose Noble 6 as he is a custumizable character, you tend to like characters you create more. So who is it? Kat the technition, Jorge the heavy weapons expert, Carter the leader, Emile the close combat specialist or Jun the sniper?

Personally, I liked Jorge. It was funny to see that the biggest, most seasoned and most imtimedating member was also the nicest and kindest. I was a bit miffed that he died first, but he went out with a bang and took out a giant Covenant ship and the process. Missed a good portion of the fleet though.

EDIT: Crap, sorry I didn't know a thread like this was made. I haven't been on in a while.

For me it was a tie between Jorge and Kat, the former for being a great big brutish brit with a heart of gold and the latter for being the first female Spartan in a Bungie made Halo game. Didn't hurt that she was pretty tough too.

I also liked Jun quite a considerable amount, though I am quite indifferent about Carter and frankly for the longest time Emile just kind of annoyed me, though I eventually grew to like them okay as well.

I know Reach is still the it thing right now, but I swear I have seen this thread at least 3 times before. Come on, I know I'm gonna be labeled as that guy, but it doesn't hurt to use the search bar once and a while.

Ditto previous comment.

This is at least the third time we've had this poll.

And the third time I've voted for Jorge on account of him being the one and only character to receive any actual characterization.

I actually came here to post exactly that. So we can be "that guy" together. We'll be, "those guys".

OT: Well, honestly it seems like the campaign was sort of rushed. It felt like they cut out quite a bit of the story, and as such everything seemed to move too quickly for me to really get a good opinion on any of them.

They had names? They had specialties?

I mean, I know large man had a large mangun, and lady had ladythings, but beyond that, I thought their superpowers lied in their intense ethnic armor color differences.

I'll go with the Close Combat guy because that sounds cool. What color was he?

Of course, I played the game for less than 2 hours.

Jorge and Emile. The gentle Gatling Gun wielding giant, and the general bad ass with a skull print on his helmet.

..Yep.

I chose Carter but Jorge is a close second. I loved the way that Carter died though, it was in my opinion the most badass way to go out.

I mentioned this before in another thread, but here it is again:

Jorge was my favorite. Not only was he a big man with a big heart, but he's also the only Spartan-II of the bunch. I've read all about the Spartan-IIs and the hardships they had to face. They were abducted as children, forced to slog through SEAL-level boot camp, endured painful surgeries and augmentations that made them into super soldiers, and thrust into a prolonged war against the Covenant. Yet in spite of all the pain and hardship they endured, they gave their all for humanity and their fellow Spartans.

Armed with this knowledge of his past, I found myself gravitating towards Jorge from the outset. It was like reuniting with an old friend.

You see, thats what I dont understand about Halo.

Why do they leave the ACTUAL story in all the books? That stuff seems really interesting but you hear nothing of it ever in game, its just "Rarr were big dudes gon keel us sum a wee ens."

I know that having info and stuff ingame as to what the hell is actually been going/is going would sort of 'slow down' the game in a way and make it a bit less casual friendly, but go on any forum and the main reason people provide for disliking Halo is its mediocre story, its only major fault, take that suckiness away and people will have to really try hard to hate it.
So I guess a decent story would be better for everyone.

Its just, you go on Halopedia, Bungie.net, whatever and you see that Halo does indeed have a huuuuge universe which you unfortunately never hear of in game.

jorge is the only guy who had an once of characterization, coming from someone who still likes reach...

jorge was the gentle giant with a heart who sacrificed himself (in a way that is cliche but whatever), also love his Hungarian accent.

carter doesn't have anything except being the leader and being a "by the book" solider.

kats the intellect who has a thirst for knowledge. she seemed to have some kind of "thing" with carter but that could have been interesting so they dropped that =p

emile and jun, the...guy with cool skull mask and the sniper respectively, honestly nothing really except emile is kind of a D-bag from the 2 lines he says in the beginning.

yeah halo never had very strong characters...in the games anyway.

Kat and Carter have been in Noble team the longest, so they've formed the strongest friendship over the years.

OT: I liked Jorge and Kat the most. I've already explained why two times.

In order: Jun, Emile, Jorge.
Jun because I just really liked that sniper mission, and he had some great characterisation I thought too. Also because <spoiler=Big SPOILERS> he was the only one that survived.
Emile second because he.... was just awesome. Awesome armour, awesome skull, awesome Firefight voice... and the <spoiler=More spoilers>way he went down fighting the Elites and how you find his body after made me sad...
Jorge because... well look what everyone else has said about him.

Emile. He has the most epic death (SHUT UP, it's not a spoiler. Everyone knows Masterchief is the last spartan. If you still didn't know that, you aren't about to start giving a shit now.) as well as being the most well-developed character. (As far as I could tell). Plus, he has a fucking MINI-GUN.

Yes, in the world of videogames, these are real reasons to care for a character's well-being.

Jorge was a sweetheart, for a spartan, and he just rubbed off on me unlike everyone else

when kat gets sniped in the head by a needle rifle, all I did was laugh

My sentiments exactly, but in the end I gotta go with Jorge, I'm a heavy weapons nut.

Except that Master Chief isn't the last. He's assumed to be. Also, Emile or Jorge? Which one are you referring to? Emile has awesome armor, but only really carries a shotgun. Jorge also has awesome armor, and actually has the mini gun.

Shit, I really thought I typed "Jorge". I have no idea why that says "Emile". I know the difference between the characters, I just have no idea why....Huh. That is weird.

Wait, since when is MC not the last Spartan? Is that in the books or something?
