You want something different, maybe deal with fantasy races that aren't elves, dwarves, and orcs.toadking07 said:In some versions, namely Tolkien's and everyone who took their elf/orc notes right from the LotR. Well yes and no. Yes I would like to see more different and unique races in games, but also I'd like to see people change the elves and dwarfs up a bit. Why do orcs always have to be bad guys? Why are all elves super pretty? I mean really there's no reason dwarfs have to live in caves and elves in trees. Could just as easily put stocky short dwarfs in thick tree homes with elves that are nomadic and live on the plains while the Orcs have great mountain cities.ThrobbingEgo said:You want something different, maybe deal with fantasy races that aren't elves, dwarves, and orcs.toadking07 said:In some versions, namely Tolkien's and everyone who took their elf/orc notes right from the LotR. Excellent! Sam is probably my favourite (Loved "Thud!") but I do love me a bit of Granny and Nanny.Serenegoose said:I loves me some discworld. Give me some of that Sam Vimes or Rincewind goodness.GrinningManiac said:Also, Serenegoose, do you read the Discworld novels? If not, I whole heartedly recommend them. Not only are they the funniest books out there, they are very insightful, very clever and turn all the tropes and clichés of fantasy on their heads and make them REALLY really cool. The explanation of the quirks of different races are wonderful. The first few books are a bit "meh" in comparison to the later ones, but you don't really need to read them in any particular order, as the characters drop in and out of the overarching narrative and each novel contains its own story.![]()
