Not that I know of.

P.E.T.A. seem to be like The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. They have these massive shows / publicity stunts, but you never actually meet a fan / member.
Really? I know loads of people who are chili fans.

As I've said before in other PETA themed threads, they make doing my job a fuck of a lot more difficult with their nonsensical rantings and stupid publicity stunts.

For people who supposedly care about animals, they make it a fucking challenge to work in animal welfare, as the general public tars us all with the same brush.
CUTE KITTYYYYY!!!!!
You made it run away with your avatar. Damn you.
Come back!!!!its dinner time
I want to *invite* you for dinner!!!!!!
I never knew you had dinner inside your own mouth. *climb*

Most wolves know better than to try and eat something that can remove their tongue with a swipe :)

He may be cute, but I named him Hastur for a reason (and not just cos I'm a lovecraft dork). Was my first rescue with the rspca, now a very pampered member of my brood (which admittedly is just me and him).

If P.E.T.A was not for the human status of animals I might could stomach them. Human>Animal>Animal Human

Besides I prefer the other peta...... People eating tasty animals..... anyway....

You have a furry mouth? How did you manage to.... nevermind. I'm guessing it's similar to the hairy-palm issue for human men?

I was roommates with a girl for almost three months who was very active in PETA. Suffice to say, that ended the day she threw out all my meat.

It's funny, because prior to that incident, she rarely ever talked about it. She would on occasion talk about how a rally went, but it was usually in passing, and she never really pushed it on me until that point. I'm certainly no fan of the organization, but to each his own, and I figured, if I could live in an apartment full of Mormons, I could live with one member of PETA.

Fond memories....

Animal cruelty is wrong but eating meat is what we do, we are omnivores,we eat plant matter and we eat meat, thats just the way it is.

I don't know how they can justify protesting for animal rights when humans are suffering around the world. If a few tons of meat were sent to famine-ravaged Africa, would they protest this? They need to get their priorities straight.

I think they're very, very, very deluded and misguided, overall, and that their methods are extreme, but at least they have good intentions.

My sister was a member for a period. Her chapter was always doing strange things such as (and this isn't a joke), running through the woods during hunting season with air horns to scare off deer, usually while dressed in drab colors and never once stopping to think how easy it would be to "accidentally" shoot them.

peta is not an organization worthy of its own thread.
Friend, we all know that, but there are hundreds of threads on PETA, saying how it sucks so much. I usually stick with it for the fantastic flames.
first off, i'm not yours or anyone elses friend. second, there isn't a reason for a thread like this. like religion, people get fanatic when involving eating habits and moral choices. besides if you're looking for flames, you might have picked the wrong forum to stay.

Can't say that I have, although I know a few people who'd love to join them (although I can't ever imagine why).

I have met animal activists before. A couple nut jobs that were advocating closing a public beach on the water front of San Diego because some seals decided to take up residence and pup there. I would be ok with it if the beach were on a deserted stretch of coastline out in the boonies, but this was within stone's throw of high-rise hotels and shopping areas. I can only assume these were members of PETA because they seemed the type.

I suspect we all have met more members of PETA than we are aware of. Considering all the bad press PETA have been getting, its more rational members probably shut up about their membership while still paying their dues and silently cheering on the nut jobs who get all the attention. Just like rank and file members of the NRA go quiet after a school shooting. It is not that they don't believe they just don't want to deal with the hassle of people prejudging them due to their affiliation with an organization.
