One sold a huge stack of video games into my store once. She was a twitchy, malnourished type who had covered the inside and outside of all the game cases with propaganda which I couldn't help but chuckle at because they all involved food begging for mercy. In the end I gave her very little for the games but I suspect that didn't matter because her whole point was to spread her message of contempt for her fellow man in the form of her stickers.

So I peeled off all the cheapo stickers, and sold the games cracking jokes about the wild-haired loon who traded them in to every customer who purchased one of the games. It was hard to miss them because each and every case had been replaced with a brightly colored case instead of the usual black/grey ones.

Also from the trench-coat she was wearing I also suspect she was either a drug dealer, hideously deformed, or a pedophile.

The most exposure I've ever had to PETA was reading their utterly ridiculous publicity-stunt whining about how Barack Obama killed a fly. A fly . Firstly, nobody on Earth likes flies. Secondly, they reacted like he had shot an endangered parakeet, not just swatted a fly. Thirdly, they ignored the real point of that story; namely that Barack Obama has superhuman reflexes.

Still, from the poll results it looks like they're just an extreme minority. Huzzah for that.

While eating in a skyline chili in NY one of them ran in with a giant sign that said "Do you know what you're eating?" and PETA link, i actually talked to him after i was done chowing on my assorted beef, told him he should really try the chili and then walked out.

peta is not an organization worthy of its own thread.

Friend, we all know that, but there are hundreds of threads on PETA, saying how it sucks so much. I usually stick with it for the fantastic flames.

first off, i'm not yours or anyone elses friend. second, there isn't a reason for a thread like this. like religion, people get fanatic when involving eating habits and moral choices. besides if you're looking for flames, you might have picked the wrong forum to stay.

Why did you freak out like that? I didn't say anything to make you angry, and if I did it was unintentional. And no one has gotten angry at anyone. You're right, no flames here, other than this one. You could try to not be so temperamental, as I did nothing to provoke you. I said "friend." it fit into the sentence. Sorry, though.

I think it's fascinating that most everybody has an opinion on them despite not actually having ever met one of PETA's members. On that note though, i'll reserve judgement, i'm all for prevention of animal cruelty, but by no means does that mean that i should give up steak. I'll wait and see. If i meet one and he's a dick, so be it, i met a dick. If the entire organization is that way, well, there's the real answer.

Exactly my idea but you do know how crap the propaganda is, If one person makes a bad decission the organisation gets the blame. I'm against animal cruelty but I'm not going to do something drastic and be hypocritical to the person who eats the food.

that wasn't a flame. a flame is an insult, and a flame war is when people act like monkeys flinging poo at each other in a largely sequential order.

besides, you did plenty to provoke me to that kind of response since it's on par with almost every one of my other "regular" responses. i don't freak out or get angry, i get rational. to your original statement i can only say: don't indulge yourself in others people misery or rage unless you have earned that privilege.

Meh, i'm vegetarian,i voted for the one and only animal friendly political group( Party voor de dieren ie political Party for Animals) i support ALF (No, not the 80ties sitcom) and Sea Shepard..and damn even i think PETA can get a little *ahum* nuts from time to time.....although, they DO have very sexy commercials from time to time and who doesn't like to encourage hot famous babes to strip naked and proclaim "i'd rather go naked then wear fur" *BIG grin*

C'mon, at least give them credit for that LOL

I actually work with one, he gave me the eye when I pulled out my burger to eat and ran through the whole "do you know what they put in that beef" spiel. I said yes, and it's delicious nonetheless what's your point? He gave me the "I'm in P.E.T.A. because I don't believe in cruelty to animals blah blah blah" so I pointed out one simple fact to him.

PETA kills 97% of the dogs and cats that come into their care, it kills more than any animal shelter and the worst part is; they have the resources and caring people to house these animals.

I concluded with a "I don't support cruelty to animals either, but PETA is a terrorist organization led by a madwoman who wants to be dismembered when she dies and sent to a bunch of corporations" and walked off
