I'm an avid bicyclist, and use it to work out after work. I have a 10 mile rout that I follow like clockwork, and I keep out of the way of traffic for mine, and their safty. But, nevertheless, people suck.

I was ejected from my bike this evening, and flew something like 5 feet to the gravel path at the side of the road. I know that after I hit the ground, 5 cars on the road adjacent to the path immediately passed me. Not a one slowed down, stopped, or asked if I was even still alive. I was just laying there for a while, concious that there were people out there passing by.

I eventually pulled myself together. I walked away from the whole thing with a few bruises, a banged up knee, and a skewered pride. I was more pissed that people didn't seem to care, than being flung from my bike.

Anyway, people suck. Do you have a story you'd like to rant/share?

I dunno, I know a lot of people who blow more than suck...

Anyways, I can't really stand up to your example of humanity's inability to be considerate, but I do remember I stopped biking after some lady's stupid dog attacked the front wheel of my bike while I was freaking riding it. Course that only happened cause she didn't have it on a fucking leash. Fell into a pile of watery mud, got covered in the stuff, AND got some pretty severe soft tissue damage in my right arm. Had to go to the hospital at 4 PM and finally got home after X-rays at about 12 PM.

Then for the next two weeks at school people ridiculed me for it and claimed that I was attempting to run down the dog. (I was offended by this simply because I can't stand hurting living things. Well, except people when they deserve it.)

In that time though, I DID learn how to configure my keyboard to play Jedi Knight 3 with one hand. Kick-ass. Didn't really make up for the sheer assery of everyone though.

Yes. People suck. I have to deal with them all the time at work. So I'd like to specify that... Dumb shits for people suck. Holy God. Okay so today at my job (Five Guys), it was close to closing time, but people still kept coming in. It was so busy today. Apparently when the weather starts hitting 80+ degrees, we spend money on burgers and fries. ANYWAY, there's an old lady that I hate that runs register sometimes. She said that she was gonna empty the trash. As soon as she went out back, a flood of more customers are coming in. Mind you, sandwiches aren't being made cause that was my job.

Get this.

She saw more people coming in the door as she was gonna empty the second trash can and KNEW I had to get the sandwiches ready for the customer. She went back to take her sweet ass time to empty the other trash can! I had to hurry the customers along so I could run back and get their sandwiches put together. Then when she finally got back, she had her normal nasty attitude when people wanted to order their food.

I dunno why this evil ***** still has a job with her nasty attitude towards both the customers and her co-workers...but she does. I rarely wish ill on people, but her falling and possibly breaking a hip actually put a smile on my face.

God. She was such a *****. I won't even get into the last time I was at work. Every dumbfuck of New Jersey called and came in the store. They knew I was there, so they decided to make my life a living hell with their stupidity.

Sigh.

Meh, I believe it's just the person, not people in general. Most people are ok, but many others are just loud and obnoxious and think they're funny. I also think its rude when people just bump into you and just keep walking, at least I have the decency to say sorry or excuse me......

people know that if they help you and you are hurt you could sue them. so people think "well i dont want to get sued for trying to help. better let the ambulance come get em, and someone else will probably call 911. its none of my business"

so yes people suck. im an EMT and i have stopped on the side of the road to help people many a time. not because its my job or that im trained. its just that im one of the last people on earth who care more about a stranger being okay than being late for a movie.

Think of the world, if people didn't suck then many conflicts would have never occurred (like the Iraq war). But people in general do suck, They use other peoples misfortune for their own personal joke to elate their own self status amongst the rest of the world. I try to befriend everyone i meet, give them a helping hand if they need it, but some people are incredibly arrogant and would not be found dead with you based on your position in a social structure. Other people are good though and are willing to help you, the only problem is that only like 1 in 5 people will actually do so. Which is a shame.

People collectively suck the largest and most obscene/profane/humiliating type of testicles you can imagine.

On an individual level, face-to-face, people tend to be not quite so bad. Still many exceptions- the people who will push you out of the way instead of going around you, or who'll shout at you for no reason- but people are better when they're not in a group.

A lot of people suck, a lot of people don't. For every story I have of people being assholes, I have another were someone was unexpectedly kind to me. I'm a firm believer of paying it forward, and so I tend help people when and if I can. I would've stopped, FWIW. :/

I think if you go into the world believing most people suck, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Babies are not born innocent. They're no better than animals until they're taught manners and respect.
Unfortunately for us, the majority of the world remains to be taught.

Ouch... I'm sorry man, that sounds awful. The unnecessary hatred shown towards cyclists is terrible at the best of times. Still, to pass you as callously as they did without showing down shows a level of apathy or contempt which is really sad, I can only hope that your experience wasn't to bad and you keep on enjoying cycling.

There is not a single person who can relate to the comment that "people suck" more than anyone who has ever been a Waiter/Waitress at a restaurant. I used to work at an Applebees and for those of you who eat at places such as it, please allow me to enlighten you:

The server does not cook your food.
The server does not prepare your food.
Odds are good the server will not bring your food out, someone else will, who has even less knowledge of your order.
Servers get paid horrible hourly wages (Wisconsin has a $2.33 minimum for tip-based salaries), and RELY, to FEED THEIR FAMILY, on your tips. They must "tip-out" (usually), a percentage of their sales (sales, not tips) to the bartender/hosts/busboys, and if you stiff a server, they are PAYING to wait on you.
Do. Not. Ever. Yell. At. Your. Server. Odds are very good, when something goes wrong, it is not their fault in the slightest. Your food has gone through an assembly line of generally at least three to four people, if not more. Pissing off your server just ensures that you are mad, the server is mad, and the boss is mad. Everyone loses, no one wins. You will get the same amount of food for free if you are nice as if you are a jerk, if not more.

If the server is a complete tool: Leave a very small tip. Servers get stiffed all the time, they will assume you are a moron who can't tip if you stiff them. A one dollar tip ensures that they will get the message written in big black marker on the bill, that being "you suck."

Generally, be nice to the people who are working, regardless of the business. They are working a crappy job, that they don't like, to continue living. Being a jerk to them just makes everyone mad, and if you are nice to employees, they will return the favor. I've gotten so many good deals from car dealers/electronics salesmen/servers just by not being a complete tool. I'm not talking small things, I'm talking thousands off a used car, free software and hardware, free food, the upsides far outweigh the downsides, and to think being a moron to everyone you meet will somehow accomplish more, please volunteer yourself for sterilization.

Yes...people do suck...

Whenever I have to drive anywhere, the person behind me ALWAYS is like right on my back bumper. They are SO impatient and need to get where they want to go in the least possible amount of time. And I don't drive slow. I drive the speed limit or around the speed limit.

I see people speeding like 20 miles over the speed limit and yet I never see any cops around ready to throw down a ticket...

Bicyclists FTW.

I've had that happen to me multiple times. Only once did anyone stop to find out if I was okay. People are jerks. That applies doubly-so when you bring cars and bicycles into the equation.

Motorists think that 'He's riding a bike, what a dork/ he thinks he's better than me? I'll be a total douche to him, that'll show him for not getting a car.'

I've actually had stuff thrown at me out of someone's car for the mere fact that I was on a bicycle. This happened twice in one day too... and it was the same people, too.

You know the phrase "innocent until proven guilty?"
I live by "All people are dicks until proven otherwise."

And it works.
Which is strange, because I live by the exact opposite - You have my trust and respect until you do/say something to lose it - and that works just as well.

To each his own, of course.

Driving a car in my city I have seen some pretty asinine things and have come to a conclusion:
other drivers are idiots whose best part dried up on their mother's thigh, pedestrians are cattle who deserve to be run over when they run across a 4-lane street and waving hands at cars (that are going at 50-60km/h) to stop.

You aren't the first one, Chuck Palahniuk (the guy who wrote Fight Club) said that he was on holiday once, and got beat up, when he came back to work with a black eye and a split lip nobody cared, nobody asked is he alright. Everybody pretended that everything is fine.

Yes, the world is a horrible place. It shocks me how ignorant, and awful people are.
