I would love to see a new Persona game break through the ranks. Suffice to say, the makers of these games and the like are alot more clever about things than most RPGs. Don't get me wrong. I like Final Fantasy games, but Persona games are alot different and weirder, and the last one required a good deal of thinking power.

I haven't played any of the previous Persona games, and probably won't play this, but from what I've heard, they're quite good.

You may know the series better as Shin Megami Tensei.

Also, the first two were released in America a bajillion years ago, known for their so-so combat but interesting party mechanics and weird as all hell story.

The series was redone mostly with Persona 3, a big hit in japan and the US, at least in relation to how well weird japanese ports usually sell. Persona followed up a year or so later, selling I believe half a million copies in the states (not something to sneeze at), and have been generally well received by critics.

Now with the Wikipedia paraphrase out of the way...

I kinda had to push my way through the 4th installment, because I played its predecessor for 2 weeks straight until I beat it, but I still love the series. Hopefully even more efficient and better looking! I'll admit it, I kinda only bought my ps3 so I could play Persona 5 *guilty

While not always commercially, very much so critically.

I have no reason to believe this won't be as well.

I've played 3 and part of 4. Persona is really an acquired taste from what I played, mixing JRPG with Sims like interacting. The interactions with your friends bring bonus to their or your Personas--AKA:badass powers. I dunno, I haven't meet anyone who played them who didn't like them, but then again there is always Yahtzee.

Voice acting and story is pretty stellar in my humble opinion.

Well looks like its time to invest in one of those PS3s I have been hearing so much about.

I'm happy as hell that they are doing something asides from releasing P3 for the 3rd time. I'm kinda of hope for a bit of a change up this time but who the hell I am kidding, I'm going to buy it regardless. Hopefully the 360 gets some Persona love.If not I know what I'm blowing my money on.

That may well explain it. I live in the UK too, and I've only met one person familiar with the games (well, two now). And Persona 4 was retailing for £9.99 when I bought it, on the week of release. It's safe to say they aren't big sellers here at all.

I bought the games based on the critical acclaim and word of... er... text from the forum. Yet to get around to playing them, although I hope to finally start PE3: FES this month.

Anyway, I'm very happy that one of the most daring JRPG franchises is getting another installment. I'm resigned to it being on the PS3 (possibly 360 as well), which is a shame as I don't have one yet, but I'm happy it's getting the go-ahead. Although I don't think that ever seemed in doubt.
