On the weekend, my pet ferret, Rorschach, died at the age of 10. I'm not entirely sure what to do. Should I get another ferret? Should I get a new pet entirely? Should I not bother? Now, it might be worth mentioning I'm soon off to university, so if you have any suggestions bear in mind I'd be best off with a low maintinence and preferably small pet (if I get one at all).

Cat, will sleep while your at uni and then awake at night, easy to toilet train, doesn't require alot of attention. Also they are small:)

Hell yeah cats are the best. I'd go with a cat, they're extremely low maintenance and so very very adorable.

I'm thinking about a cat, the rock I'm not so sure of, I think they're a bit high maintenance.

OT: What the fuck is it with people mentioning ferrets??? I've seen two posts and the 'Gimpy batman' article with them mentioned. It's almost like god's mocking me.

Something you can handle at uni, which may very well be no pet at all.

You're prolly gonna be to busy studying, making friends, drinking and hooking up to take care of most pets.

A tamagochi perhaps?

props on having a ferret btw, i've always wanted one of those.

Guessing from the name, was it black and white?

I find dogs to be an amicable decision. As they say, "Cats look down on us, dogs look up to us, and pigs treat us as equals."

So unless you want Babe for a roomy, I'd go with a Labrador.

GET A GOLDFISH!

I won my goldfish in a fairground 4 years ago and he's still alive. He's known amongst my friends as the invinvible fish. The poor thing has gone 4 years with no name

We're thinking of freezing him

I had two of each. Unfortunatly they all died and I got a dog who has been with my family 5 or 6 years.

Pet rock FTW
Pretty much this.

either that or buy a tree, watch it grow. It's pretty much like watching paint dry except after about 9,000 years you can get your apple from the orange tree.

First off, I'm sorry for your loss.

Second, how should we all know whats best for your lifestyle. Do you even want a new pet?

Sorry to hear that, man. I hope it's not too traumatic for you.

I suggest a tarantula. They're very low-maintenance creatures, quiet, and they don't smell. I used to have one, they're great.

It may seem outlandish, but try a pet Hedgehog, I was reading up on them because i was interested, and they are super low key, eat little, poop little, and are fine with being left alone OR being played with a little bit, and they are CUTE!

I had a pet deer at college... by that I mean I throw sugar cubes out my window in fear that it would fuck me up when I walked out at night.
