Since there's an advice column floating around the escapist about what kind of dog someone should get, I got to thinking. What kind of pet do you have, and what would you get if you got another?

I have cats. They're the lords and masters of their own domain. When they want affection, they come get it, when they don't, you can't find them. Easy to feed, they keep themselves clean and the only downside is when they bring live brown snakes into the house.

The solution is to live in a part of the world that doesn't feature brown snakes.

I think someone once said that "Dogs have Masters, Cats have servants.". I think this rings true.

This is going well.

EDIT: BTW, I have a chihuahua and think I'd just get another when he dies.

i got 2 dog, both golden retrievers, both great, one's calm and regal, the other is a complete nut case that chases light that's shining on the walls/ceiling, and he has cataracts so walks into things. i know i shouldn't laugh but they're awesome.

I've had pet rats for 10 years and I love, love, love them. They are like little, tiny dogs. They even lick my face and hands to greet me. The only problem with rats is that their lives are so short. :(

I have a miniture-schnauzer, black and silver in color, 3 years old...and much more dependable and loving than most humans. I don't think anything could replace him, but I suppose someday off in the far future I may consider another dog once I get over my loss.

Sometimes I get urges to see how far I can kick them, like the chicken kicking in Fable.
(obviously i've never done it)

I have one cat named Carmen, I try not to but I basically spoil her rotten.

I'm currently house sitting for my in laws and taking care of their monster, an oversized golden retriever (he's like Wolf Sized) who is dumber than a sack of doorknobs and to friendly for his own good. I don't like dogs though, especially not ones this size, so things are strained at best.

Two dogs, three cats. One dog and two cats are my sister's, who just moved in, but they are all unique and their own special qualities. I really love the cat that she has that doesn't leave the closet unless she needs food, water, or the litter box :)

I've had birds and dogs. Cockateils are soooooo annoying. They chirp all the time. Dogs are my favorite so far, by a long shot. I wonder how having rats would be, though. That sounds interesting....

The little ones, yeah. This one weighs twelve pounds and is SKINNY. He would be harder to kick than those little rats.

I have a Siamese cat named Jasmine. I named her after the cat in the book "Jasmine's Journey".
Cats have always been my special friends throughout my life, They truly embody elegance.
Dogs on the other hand.. I never got along with dogs, they always come off as big annoying dependent and sometimes pathetic beasts.

Two dogs.

I wouldn't get a cat, because i'm more demanding than the cat and i fear it would die from having to do things for me (such as dance).

I have a dog. My avatar is a picture of him with his cone thingy on, although you can't see it real well. He's pretty old (13 or so, which is pretty far along for a 130 lb. dog) so when he's gone I'll probably look for a newfie.

Well now i am down to 2 Canaries and i love them to death since i hand raised the little buggers. I used to have tons of birds, a few canaries, some moaning doves, a blue jay. if i were to get a new pet it would most definitely have to be a Husky either pure bred or a mix between husky and collie like my friend has.
