one cat who's older than me and who's been in the family since before I was born....

He's getting old now but that doesn't seem to stop him regularly killing rodents...hell he's once even brought back a mole somehow....

I have a black Labrador puppy called Max. He is awesome. If you flip his food bowl over and put it on the floor he will chase it for hours barking at it. He also fights with doorstops.

I've had birds and dogs. Cockateils are soooooo annoying. They chirp all the time. Dogs are my favorite so far, by a long shot. I wonder how having rats would be, though. That sounds interesting....
Its actually quite fun, they are personable and make good pets
But you do have to take them out and play with them, and you should always have more than one. They are intensely social and if they don't have another rat to play with, they get overtly depressed. I had two rats, Sophie and Dolly, and when Sophie died it took me a few months to get another couple of rats. In that time frame, poor Dolly was so miserable. And she didn't have anyone to help her groom the back of her neck where she couldn't reach, so she was very itchy. Now Dolly is getting older (1 1/2 years old) and the new ones are hyperactive youngsters who pounce on her all the time, so I think she still really misses Sophie, but for very different reasons.

My family has a cat, two dogs and three rabbits.

In our house we also have a mother rabbit and her seven babies which we are fostering for the RSPCA.

I have 6 kitties, and I love them all to death!
That has to be painful for the cats.
I don't squeeze too hard when I give them huggles... I have scars to prove that I learned that lesson.

My family has a pair of dogs and some fish... but I have a cat. He lives in my room. Like, he eats and sleeps in here but he pees outside. I'm pretty sure he poops out there too but I haven't checked lately.

That's a good one, xitel.
It's true too. I actually do have scars from huggling my kitties too tight.

I used to have too. Hershe was the greatest ever TwT... She lived to the ripe old age of 5. Never tried to run away even when we where outside. How I miss her.

What? Really? I was the only one who chose fish?

Well sure, you could have chose multiple, but come on! Have some fishy pride!

Fish are neat pets for sitting on a computer desk. Depending on luck and what kind of fish you have, they don't really demand much. Just feed them, don't leave the light on too long, and clean out their filter once in a while. Technically you're supposed to change their water every month. Once every three to six months works out for lazy though.

But fish are fragile and ambiguous. They're nice to see swim around when you have the time to stare at something, but they're not really good for affection. That's why when I get the opportunity to own a "mainstream" pet, I would choose a cat. I don't really hate dogs, but they tend to be more annoying than cats.
