Poll: Pick up that can...

Blimey, it's making me feel old to think that Half-Life 2 is almost a decade old. I remember the days when real-time physics were a new feature. There are teenagers today who were gurgling infants when HL2 came out!

Anyhow, I'm sure you all remember your first time playing through HL2, and I'm interested to note - what was your reaction to...

Did you do what the nice police officer asked you to? Or, did you chuck it in his face and run away giggling while he chased you with his baton? The latter was my choice, followed up by a round of finding every telephone I could, and putting them in a box.

He chased me for a solid fifteen minutes around those metal barrier things before giving up.

(Oh, and if that makes you feel old, just think: soon there will be teenagers running around who weren't even born when 9/11 happened.)

I threw it at his balls. He wasn't happy, I however, was cracking up.

I threw it at him the first time, then just ran. Eventually he gave up.

I kept renewing the chase with the can. And when the can is lost i used bottles. And when the bottles broke i used the chinese takeaway cartons. And when those were gone i tried grabbing suitcases.

No weapons, no nothing. I didn't want to get curbstomped by security. I threw it in the bin. Also, I didn't know what my alternatives were.

And by the way, teenagers today would have been 5 when HL2 came out. So not infants. I'm not saying that the description doesn't fit, though, just technically they wouldn't be called that. They could have still acted the part, though.

The first time I threw in the trash can, and missed. I was still getting used to the engine. The next play through I threw it in a different can, he wanted me to specifically put in that one. Arsehole.

Jesus, makes me wonder whether if my boss brought in a MAC-10 and told me to off everyone in the building the only thing I'd say is; "I'm going to need more bullets."

I threw it at him as I didn't expect anything to happen. I assumed that it was a tutorial telling you how to pick things up so once I threw it at him he would ignore it and tell me to pick it up again.

Then he started running at me with his baton sparking.........

The first time through, I just dropped it in the trash. I didn't know if he could kill me or not and wanted to play it safe. But every subsequent time I've played, I've taken the rebel option of throwing the can at his face and running past him. I did throw stuff at the random citizens the first time I played, though. 'Cause what are those wimps going to do about it, besides be slightly annoyed at me? They don't have electric batons to beat the shit out of me with, so they're clearly meant to have trash thrown at their heads.

Since he pushed it himself I thought he was corrupt and suddenly screamed "F*ck the police!" in my mind and threw it at him...

He mad, but it made a nice sound as it connected.

First time on the Xbox I threw it I think. It was 2004 though, and I have played the game at least three or four times.

I'd already spent about fifteen minutes picking up the suitcases, empty food containers and other debris when you first get off the train, so by the time he ordered me to clean up after him, I knew what to do.

I lobbed it at him, and waited to see what he'd do. I got b'zzzapped.
