Actually, I tried to chuck it into the trash from a distance. It bounced off the rim and didn't fall in. Then the nice police officer came at me with his baton and hit me a couple times. So uncalled for, man.

Straight to the temple. I then spent the next ten minutes out of his reach throwing everything I could pick up at him. I would probably have continued for a lot longer, but I was playing at a friend's house, and he threatened to revoke my gaming-privileges if I didn't move on... (You'll note that I did as I was told in the real world.)
I'm surprised to see so many people went for the "do what the nasty man says" option! It's almost a fifty-fifty split, after all.
Can anybody think of other games that allow for a choice of minor civil disobedience? I remember the crew on Voyager were never too happy when I procured a phaser and started doodling graffiti into the wall with it.

I put it in the trash but I feel I got him back when I was murdering all of his potential friends and family...
I bounced it off his face, then ran away. Then when he stopped chasing, I ran back with a bottle, and broke it on his face too.

My first time, I put it in the trash can. But that's because I was unaware that I could throw it at him.
Afterwards, in later playthroughs, I lobbed it at him again and again. Hell, I think I got some other stuff, like a phone, and threw at him some more.

While it may sound lame, it was the lowest-effort method of getting around the guy. Besides, throwing it at him would be risk with no possible reward that could not be obtained through less risky means.

I was slightly scared of that evil, modulated voice. It really embodied the combine regime (the whole train station sequence was amazingly effective at painting a picture) and I wasn't about to take any chances.
I bounced it off his head into the trashcan. He seemed pissed about me throwing it in his face, but then okay that it went into the can. I don't know what category that falls into.

I couldn't understand what he said the first time ("Prck urp drt crrn!") so I just sat there staring like an idiot until he decided to beat the shit out of me.
Im pretty sure I threw it at him the first time. And was petrified when he beat me with that baton =(
