I have one my granddad left me when he died. Since I've been at uni, my family appear to have lost it.
Fucking thank you.

I would like one but I would feel a bit like a tool using one in case people think I'm just trying to be different, so I probably will never get one:p
Bah, screw what other people think, if you like one, get it. Enjoying a beautiful piece of craftsmanship does not make you a tool.

I enjoy them. I think of them like ties really. They had a certain element of class and elegance.

I have one that is gold and ornate, Looking something like this:
http://www.goldpocketwatch.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Gold-pocket-watch8.JPG only it has a real emerald in it. its actually very nice and compliments any of my clothes well.

But my friend took the nerdier way and got one like this:

...I honestly cant say I blame him or that he chose wrong.

Oooo, have I started a new trend? [small]Humor me.[/small]

I'm all for it, seeing as how I'm getting this [http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81rHR-R1OES._AA1500_.jpg] soon. Wristwatches just feel...wrong, somehow.

They're beautiful, but yea they aren't the most practical of things. But who the hell cares about practicality?

I want one. A high quality version of Ed's watch from Fullmetal Alchemist would be pretty sick.

I'm a history nerd and the magazine I've a subscription made this offer to me and now I've got this wonderful 18th century replica. It was cheap but it works has good sound / ring to it and it looks beautiful. For some reason I tend to hold it in my left hand while playing Empire: Total War.

I love pocket watches because they are classy, and I'm allergic to most metals.
I broke my old one a couple years ago, but I plan on getting another one this Christmas.

I really like pocket watches, wish I had one, they emanate elegance and style.
Besides that I can't really use a wrist watch since my wrists are already occupied with wristbands.

Totally. While you can wear it with a waistcoat/3 piece suit, you can also wear on with jeans. I stick the chain on my belt loop and put it in that little pocket that's not useful for anything else. Elegant way of checking the time, and the chain makes the pants classy for some reason.

Yeah! I want an expensive one, that's high quality material, like yours. That being said, I know it was a present but how much do you think your watch costs?

I think there AWESOME i too always found watches very intriguing and even more so for the old time pocket watches. I wouldn't buy one because im not one to really need to know what time it is and if i do need to know what the time it is i have other methods. But if i did have one i would by a top hat and a monocle and walk around with it.

I was with her when I got it today. It was £80.

If I actually get around to get the appropriate attire to match the top hat I always wear, (unless it's cold enough outside to freeze my ears of), That's to say a dapper greatcoat and possibly a monocle, I do intend to get a pocket watch to match it.

For now I'm using a titanium wrist watch.
