Poll: Poll of the Day #10: Do You Like Rule 34?

Yup at times. Interestingly, I always saw R34 more in a general sense i.e. people can have very weird fetishes and so forth[footnote] Which would also mean answering the question with a resounding yes, mind[/footnote] but seemingly the reference to R34 is more about proprietary characters or somesuch and not about general weird kinks. Going with this, personally, I never cared too much about it hence why...you know what? I'll just give you a short run-down from the top of my head of franchises I recall possessing porn of just to mess with ya all! :D

Final Fantasy (lots in fact), Super Mario, Metroid, MLP, Disney (also lots), Pokemon, Digimon, Pixar, Legend Of Zelda, World Of Warcraft, Full Metal Alchemist, The whole WB cartoon area, The whole Disney cartoon area, Naruto, One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, Street Fighter, The Sonic franchise (not lots tbh) ...and I think...that's about it....

Honestly, though, that's all from franchises I really don't care or know much about[footnote]Except FMA and Cowboy Bebop but those were merely one picture each from the same artist and really, really tame. Poor Winry, though.... :D[/footnote]. Amusedly, though, I think that's exactly what makes me able to use it at all: when I see, say, Mass Effect stuff I usually recoil quickly...Garrus is just too cool to be used like....ewww! ........ahhh you know the drill >_>

Ideally, Rule 34 should be there for anybody looking for it and not rear its head to anybody who is not.

What get's me is how few people seem to have a problem with Rule 34, but when Micheal Bay makes something like Bayformers you'd think the world had ended. I'd think some of that Rule 34 shit would be way worse for your childhood than anything Micheal Bay could ever hope to do.
I was never especially upset by bayformers, nor any other attempts to gouge my nostalgia for money, so I can only guess at other's thoughts, but I would imagine it has to do with the scope of it.

For the most part, Rule 34 stays in the dank corners of the internet from whence it came. The occasional unlucky net denizen may stumble across it by accident, but rule 34 isn't affecting outsider perspectives of a franchise in any significant way.

A baysplosion, nostalgia-sploitation film, though, is going to draw millions of viewers, alter the canon the hardcore fans exist to defend, and, most grievously, change tiny, pedantic details... and we all know how your average fanboy reacts to the change of details!

It could also be a case of selective franchises, too. I mean, the person who gets indignant about Bay's transformers probably isn't the same person looking for transformers rule 34.

Oops, forgot to answer the poll: I got no beef with rule 34. Most of it is too poorly drawn to be useful for either a chuckle or a snuggle, but I ain't the guardian of taste, and I'm not opposed to the concept of it.

I actually held back asking the same question due to the 2 opposing ways that I interpreted your sentence.

1. Disgusted enough to put you off that much, as you said.

2. Enjoying it to the point of sating the desire for sex. [footnote]Sorry if this offends you, but I have heard of people swearing off sex for their preference of porn so I didn't think this was a completely unreasonable interpretation of your post. It's possible @Loop_Stricken had the same conflicting interpretation as me and wasn't looking to ask you to justify your position. I could be wrong though.[/footnote]

Having said that, I'm not against it either. As long as it's mostly harmless then people can express themselves however they want. It's not like it's everywhere, you kind of have to search for most of it to find it (Unless you're on deviantart, god rest your soul).
Deviantart doesn't really have outright porn, they have guidelines against that.

Guidelines that they never enforce. Especially if your popular.

I'm not big on the tentacle rapey ones, or the school girl getting plowed by multiple guys at once ones, or the pedo ones, or the incest ones; but I'll admit to enjoying rule 34. (don't judge me!)

I have a pretty twisted sense of humor at times & I find the more absurd the Rule 34 is the better. As far as I'm concerned nothing is safe, everything is fair game.

Does it matter whether I like it or not?
Rule 34 is like the laws of physics, it's like asking if I like gravity.
I guess in the end, I can't really deny that I like it, but at some I've run into situations where I don't.

I love it! Both for comedy and for the um... regular reason, depending on how it's done and what it's of.
I especially like when you pile subjects and fetishes onto eachother, like hermaphrodite-celebrity-interracial-furry-pregnant-vore-midget-breast expansion-Mario-financial domination porn, or something. I don't know if that particular combo exists (oh, who am I kidding? - Of course it does!), but the more ridiculous and farfetched, the better.

"Do I like having massive amounts of porn of practically anything I could think of available whenever I want for free?"

Yeah, I'd say I do. It's pretty decent. And I'm pretty depraved and have some... odd interests that I can never indulge in real life ever, so even more so... it's very useful.

No, you're spot-on; I just couldn't make myself well-enough understood at the time, it seems.

When I first heard of it, I googled some childhood stuff for laughs, and to this day I can't decide if the laughs were worth the price of seeing my childhood being set on fire right before my eyes. Other than that one time, I'm somewhere between indifferent and annoyed when I happen to stumble upon rule 34 artwork, but hey, it's the artist's blog/tumblr/da/whatever, and he didn't force me to browse it, so who cares, really, just skip it.

Edit: wow, genuinely surprised at the number of people who enjoy it.

Not really... The site's always spamming my Chrome with malware or some shit like that... It's basically why I always use e621 instead...

Oh, you mean the concept of Rule 34... *thinks* Eh... Despite the amount of Rule 34 shit that's both on (and off) my laptop, I'm actually pretty indifferent to it overall.. I mean, it hasn't "ruin my childhood" nor does it make me look at certain shows (like MLP/Adventure Time) any different than how I did before looking them up on Rule 34 e621 and the like...

Basically, I know how to distance myself between the "Rule 34" and the "actual canon" of anything in general... (Rule 63, however, is another story altogether for me...)

I've pretty much managed to avoid it so far, so I don't really care about it existing.

Completely unserious R34 drawings, like Nixon, kitchen appliances, and fruit (look up the fruit on Paheal, it's freaking art): hilarious, I will never get tired of them.

Serious drawings of stuff I'm not interested in: that's cool I guess, but usually it's pretty crappy.

Serious drawings of stuff I like: aw yiss

Long live rule 34.
