During my life as a gamer, probably 12 or more years now, I've only ever preordered 2 games.
Mass Effect 2: Collector's Edition for PC

Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth for the DS
Mass Effect 2 was fun, but kind of a disappoint compared to the first one, but Miles Edgeworth was amazing, though not as good as the past 2 Ace Attorney games.

I used to preorder a lot of games... I'm pretty sure back in '08, I preordered Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 5, Fallout 3 Collector's Edition, Spore Galactic Edition, and Mercenaries 2...
I don't really do it as much anymore because I've got to commit to saving up for a game when I would rather just wait until it comes out and look at reviews for it instead of blowing my money on crappy games (Spore... how I wished something better could have come out of it...). I also preorder Collector's Editions because the stores often times don't carry them unless asked specifically by a customer for it. In fact, I got the only PC Collector's Edition of BioShock 2 that the local GameStop had because I preordered it. I'm also probably going to preorder the 3DS because I know it will sell out.

Fallout: New Vegas and Crackdown 2, which I really, truly regret. If only I had known what a terrible game C2 would be.
I have Reach and Fable 3 on the pre-order list.
I love the extra crap you get with pre-orders, plus, I do the midnight pickup thing, so I'm a step ahead of friends. I figure I might as well throw down a 5 dollars before it releases since I'm just going to pay that 5 dollars with another 55+ since I like buying new releases that I like as soon as possible.
Sure this fucks with me sometimes (Too Human), but in retrospect, it hasn't bitten me on the ass too hard yet.

I have only ever pre-ordered one game, and that was Call of Duty 3. My experience with that taught me that no matter how awesome r terrible a game may seem, do not judge it until you play it, and never pre-order something because you don't know for sure if the game will actually be (and I hate to word it like this) worth your money.
