One reason I liked Fallout 3 was the option to have 2 different views, I thought it was cool and well done, though I did find myself using the first-person view more often. Also, it really depends on the game. I do like having options, though.

Slightly further then 3rd person if possible, I like to be able to see my whole character + it gives me a better view of my surroundings.

First for shooters, third for RPGs. Or, in the case of shooting RPGs (such as the previously mentioned Fallout 3), a mix of both.

I like Third Person View in most shooters. Not just half of the character though (like GoW) but the whole character (like Mass Effect).

Generally first person, but it depends. Third person is good too. Over the shoulder, isometric, and the rest, are just plain weird.

All of them can be done well - it depends on the game. Generally I like first-person games the best, but that's because I don't particularly enjoy autoaim. In The Witcher I play over-the-shoulder, but I think the best control scheme for an RPG like that is probably the one that I've only ever seen in Anachronox, in which you can look in any direction while running in any direction, and the cursor is a three-dimensional object making it obvious what you're pointing at.

RTS for me. I can see around and over obsticales and its easier to command that way. Also this guy is the first to vote RTS!

"In shooters" isn't specific enough, because I'd say there's more to it than just the perspective, there's how the game elements use the perspective. For example, Gears of War makes extensive use of special cover stances that involve doing things like firing over your shoulder, so a first person perspective just wouldn't work. However, the Thief series is all about what Garret can see and intimate maneuvers (leaning just enough to see around that corner without being spotted) would make it impossible to play in first person.

Your list is flawed. If you're asking about what view point we like it's FP and TP or first person, and third person. First person shooter is NOT a point of view, especially not when you specify that it's a shooter in your post.

I'm a fan of the first person. Makes the game feel more immediate, and is much more effective in putting you in your character's shoes when you haven't got a close up view of your own back.

Timesplitters 2 groomed me to the FPS genre, so that's my choice

But Over the Shoulder is awesome as well

It really depends on the gameplay. Sometimes I like Third-Person over the shoulder, sometimes I like First Person.
