Because that's just what a kid needs, to be the 9th of a series of kings in an outdated monarchy. As a Canadian, I have no problem with the pageantry of the monarchy. It's a part of our history and I'm cool with that. I just don't think the royals should be given celebrity status.

Do you think anyone inside the UK gives a shit, other than a few royal arselickers?

Because I sure as hell don't, and I'm British.

To be honest I think more people outside the UK are more excited considering most tourist's can't get enough of our outdated monarchy.

I don't care, good for them I guess. What I do care about is now the news and papers are going to be talking about this instead anything remotely important.

Erm.... Trying to think of a way to relate it to video games. AHA!

If it's a boy throw him in a bush and name him Garen.

In these situations I find it best to quote Green Day.

I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T, I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T, I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T CAAAAAARE!

OT: I'm happy for them. I've always thought them fairly nice people, even if the royal wedding was overblown. Hope the media stop bloody stalking the poor fellers.

Wow really, why is this important? I get enough of this type of tabloid stuff with sydney newspapers and magazines. As an australian, i'm really tired of having monarchy shoved down my throat as celebrities. They married or were born into a royal family and woopdie fkn doo, they are now UK celebrities with god like status. WTF.

Back to OT, if it was me naming the kid, i wouldn't choose an anglo-saxon name and the names you picked...i find them boring. I'd probably use some eastern european name or japanese name.

I will go the NIS route and suggest The Devourlord (soul nomad reference).

Also it weirds me out just how much of my country (USA) is fascinated with the Brittish royal family considering that...you know....we arent BRITTISH. Anything related to those two is front page news over here.

I wouldn't have thought that their child's name would be something to get pissed off over, but I guess people disagree. I tend to like the Royals because they are dignified and bloody careful about what they say and do (with a couple of exceptions, although those were pretty funny). They didn't ask to be born into what is essentially a gilded cage, but they keep their chins up and get on with it. They're not as relevant nowadays, but at least they travel around the place meeting people, shaking hands and talking to them - just generally making some kind of an effort. If we didn't have them, we'd just have Dave to look up to as some sort of leader, and I don't find him to be particularly inspiring.

I just hope the papers don't go on and on about it while ignoring the more important stories.

Oh, not you too Deathhunter! D:

At work they went on for almost 30 minutes on CBC about the Duchess's morning sickness. Too much media attention for me. Its the baby of royalty, not the second coming of Christ. Sorry but I just have heard too much about this today to stomach this very much right now.

...

Victoria for a girl, George for a boy.

[sub][sub][sub]I wish the news would stop going on about morning sickness like nobody knows what that is...[/sub][/sub][/sub]

I'm excited by this... But that is because as a member of the UK military I work for her Majesty... so this baby, and it's name, could be the last monarch I see (providing it is male, or a female with no brothers) (and have a commission from[footnote]As an Officer, and as long as I am not dishonourably discharged my commission is for life, even after I retire... and the commission giver is that of the reigning monarch[/footnote]) before I die! And as long as I outlive William this could happen. So that is why I care! It's a possible future employer!

On that note... I would like to see Victoria II... it's a nice name, and relevant in this day and age!

Canadian here so this might end up on my coinage. Victoria sounds like Victory! Let's go with that.

Also, lol at the multitude of people who entered a VERY descriptive thread that they MUST have known the subject matter of, solely to post that they don't care and/or that other people shouldn't care.

To the people admonishing others for enjoying/paying attention to something they view as superfluous or wasteful: Maybe you shouldn't be in the Off-Topic section of an internet forum for a website devoted to video games.

I think they should call it Aragorn if it's a boy, but the chances of that happening are approximately zero.

Edit: Considering the size of the Escapists's MLP fandom, I'm surprised no one's suggested calling it Celestia.

Edit Part 2:

Well, if this thread has taught me anything, it's that just about everyone from every country hates at least part of their government.

I don't know whether to be chuffed you still remember my old name or curse that it's still clinging to me nine months after I dropped it... but yes, I think I've managed to get a thread up for every royal event over the last year or so, including the Jubilee and succession rules change, even if I know it'll be hit by a barrage of "I don't cares". Hopefully I'll be first to get a thread about the baby's birth up on the forums when the time comes too :-D

If they named her Celestia, they would gain a most evil tyrant of a monarch. Princess Celestia is a monstrous individual who causes conflict for her own amusement, and utilizes cruel and unusual forms of punishment including but not limited to isolating you on the moon for a millennium and encasing you FULLY CONSCIOUS in stone in order to maintain power.

OT: I think her name should be Feather "Spider(wo)man" Plumebottomshireshershush II. I just had some Worcertcteshsurhsurheishrie sauce (which I'm not even going to bother trying to spell right), so it's giving me lots of genius ideas for names. Yes--genius. This cannot be disputed.

And it's a gender neutral name, so it's all good.

Also, I'm not seeing an "Other" poll option... weird.
