Although I can relate somewhat to your Wii vs Natal argument, Wii is made for family types and old people and soccer moms, whereas Natal, I'm guessing will be more geared towards the hardcore gamers. Most of your argument seems to say that "Omg, this is gonna suck!" *next paragraph* "Omg, did I mention that this is gonna suck?!" *next paragraph* "Omg this is gonna be too pricy"

Besides, how do you let something grow when you don't even give a chance to be born? That's like saying "Oh, just let the flowers grow, but we aren't going to give them sunlight/water/nutrients, we're just gonna put them in the basement and let them grow on their own!" Bullshit.

The only way for the program to grow is for it to be released, get some feedback, and see how to improve. No one is forcing you to buy it anyways...

I dunno, those soccer moms are getting pretty bored with Wii Fit....
Fuck I hope this goes away
Probably won't. Nintendo's just going to shit out peripherals to be on top of the game, sooooo yeah..
....I just want to play good quality games with a controller I hold in my hands
Am I getting old?
No, you're just sane like the rest of us.........and you aren't 8-11 years old

I'm not saying "It's going to suck". I'm just saying "I'm not too sure about it succeeding." Only time will tell if it will do great.

Mind you, I do still need to see and use it to form my final opinion. With that said;

The reason it will not fail, in fact that it will succeed is because the Wii already opened the door the marketplace. Natal is like the Wii but soooo much better. The Wii is basically a gimmick, the controllers on the Wii don't really work all that well except for very simple movements, and even then it doesn't adapt to you, you have to adapt to it. The Natal supposedly learns each person's body and voice individually. To top it off, the Natal is on a machine that is for adults. This is key because I don't know a single childless adult (myself included) that hasn't sold their Wii because 99% of the games are for kids. The hunger for this sort of technology is definitely out there.

It's called giving reasons for your opinions. Otherwise, it's called base-less hate.

I think it will work as long a they don't just release mini game collections for it and try to use their imaginations to think of uses for Natal.

Oh, really? Because I was under the impression that the Natal hasn't been release yet. In which case, all of your "arguments/opinions" are, in fact, base-less hate. Besides, most of your arguments is just saying how much you hate the wii and then you just compare the two.

All the motion controls will have their flaws. Even as much as PS Motion Control, I know it'll have it's flaws. That'll have problems since the camera needs to see the ball at the end to register it's position, quite a few games will require 2 and they'll probably sell them in single units. Natal will be gimmicky and have the same problems registering the position of people like the Eyetoy did, Wii MotionPlus could still horribly lag with the movement detection.

But despite this they'll still be able to add more spice to games, hardcore and casual: PSMC could carve the path for console RTSs, Project Natal could be used in proper fighting games (possibly DLC content for Tekken 6), and Wii Motion Plus could possibly improve FPS gameplay on the Wii; whilst they'll easily satisfy the casual market in ways I shouldn't need to explain.

I don't know, MS knows they can't show such a trailer and then just make it as functional as the Wii(AKA not working at all).

But i do have some questions regarding the technical side.

For example, you can scan RL objects to use in-game. How many times will it scan your hands and arms with the object?
How responsive will the voice-recognition be? Giving the right answer and then getting a fault because the system didn't recognize the word, would be epic fail.

But my biggest point is, IF this is gonna work, wouldn't that make controllers obsolete? Sure, it would take a while, but that would mean that next-gen we'd all be using motion-controls in one way or another.
Doesn't that sound to good to be true?

I never said I hate the Wii. I mentioned when the controls are used right they make great games. That's not baseless hate. That's called "being fair"

I'd rather wait and see what will come of it. Natal won't be a game to me. It will just be another Wii Fit, but with more interactivity.

Also, a virtual little boy as a friend? That's just wierd, and the option to have a little girl...well just hop on over to 4chan to see what that bastion of morality and intelligence thinks of that idea....
Ohhh I'm quite sure 4chan isn't the only one that saw the possibility for the child molesters to go nuts with it. I see 4chan as the ID of the internet, blurting out what we're to afraid to say in more sociable forums.

More on topic though. There is great potential with natal, however, potential has a funny way of not showing up to the party when dev's design a game with new technologies.

There is potential. How far Natal will take games is a question that remains to be answered.

I don't think it's doomed to fail; as long as they don't try to do too much with it.

On the other hand I don't see it as being too useful for the hardcore gamer crowd, but from the looks of their presentation at E3 it doesn't look like MS is intending it to be used in hardcore games. It looks like it will be more for the parents who bought their kids a 360. I'm sure it'll have a few really great wii like titles (volleyball, poker, Milo and other nintendog type activities) but it's biggest use will probably come from just improving general operation of the console and it's options. If they try cramming Halo, Fable, and COD onto it, it will fail.

It looks like it will be more useful as a utility than the ps3 wands which look like they'll only be useful (but much better) for games; I just hope they come out with some decent titles implementing them: like that new Castlevania - THAT would be cool.

Then I just imagined the video of the families sitting around playing games together in that natal video then? I should also point out the disdain that 'hardcore' gamers have voiced for this hardware, the OP being one of them. Yes they can release games that will give the main audience some incentive to buy them, but there is no doubt this is geared towards families and that kind of audience, that's why it's controllerless (initially) and easy to use.

Your opinions colour your views on the console. Just because you didn't say you hate the Wii, it doesn't mean you're not implying it. Saying things like it's the worst in terms of actual gaming content, while subjective, will lead people to believe that you do not like the console.

Oh and the Wii Remote was hardly 'severely limited', it just wasn't 1-1 control, which they have fixed now.

Microsoft have had so many years experience in voice recognition, while it will have it's problems, I'm confident that it will work well enough, you will just have to be clear all the time because it tries to remember the way you speak (on the PC I mean).
