I would always say 'PSX' because of the Playstation 2's backwards compatibility so Playstation (PS1) games could be played on either console. I didn't know Sony made a console called the 'PSX'.

Especially when you speak it instead of type it. "PSX" is the correct term.migo said:No, that's the PSone not PS1crimson5pheonix said:PSX. The PS1 was a specific console.
No it was called the PSX to give it 3 letters to math N64. Same reason that places will abreviate the GameCube to GCN.blakfayt said:PSX, that was the Playstation 1's original name back when it was in development, contrary to the thoughts of some people on this page.
No, PSX was really it's development name, and it just stuck.migo said:No it was called the PSX to give it 3 letters to math N64. Some websites had sections going down a list that let you select console, PSX, N64, SNES, etc. Can't remember which one off hand, but there was also the weirdness with calling the GameCube GCN instead of GC. People just didn't like 2 letter console abreviations.AcacianLeaves said:No one called it a PSX when it was in operation, and only when the PS2 came out did we call it a pS1.
I have seen ZERO evidence that it was ever officially called the 'PSX'.
Took the words out of my mouth. When they say "On PS2 or PS3? There's three of them numb nuts" I say "Playstation one. I didn't think I had to clarify for you what console Final Fantasy 7 was on, but I guess I'm just a numb nuts."Aby_Z said:I just say 'Playstation.'
It just sounds wrong abbreviated in any way.
