I have both, love both either way is fine for me.
I did however vote the PS3 because I have used PS controllers since the PS1 so it wins over time useage, also I use my PS3 waaaaay more than the 360 because any online sort of game, ie Call of Duty, Battlefield etc I will get on PS3 because the online is free, I don't even bother with paying for online on 360 if I have a PS3, besides, PS3 will be around longer, the 720 will come out before PS4 anyway.

The 360 controller has a better weight and fits my ginormas hands better, I always feel like I'm going to snap my DualShock 3 in half when I use it (Which back on my original PS, I had done in fits of rage.) That and I like the triggers a helluva lot more.

360 for me. The position of the analog sticks feels more natural and the PS3 triggers are just too squishy.

Voted 360 but ONLY because when you add the keyboard addon to the controller (the official one) the 360 controller turns on godlike mode, without it I whould go PS controller all day (pref DualShock 2, yeah not the latest one, I miss the cone-ish things under the analog sticks on the new ones)

I find the 360 controller more comfortable for some games, but for the most part they are about equal.

The main advantage of the 360 controller is it's extra weight and more tactile triggers. The triggers in particular make it feel more natural when playing shooters or high-octane action games like Bayonetta. That being said, the PS3 controller works great for everything else.

PS3 controller all the way. The Xbox 360 controller is an ungodly beast, it's too big, too heavy and everything feels stiff, not to mention the D-pad's location to me is extremely awkward. I like the trigger buttons, but other than that I prefer my controllers old School Sony Style!

I like both. Ive been using the ps format since the PSX and have been fine with it.

However Ipersonally prefer a 360 controller.

Its size is more natural. The triggers feel better positioned, and the analog sticks seem to have a looser dead zone or better nubs so you can actually get subtle precision moves.

Also as a preference I perfer 360s layout in right analog vs dpad. Makes the dpad feel more like a series of menu buttons.

I like the PS3 more, but the triggers are so awful.

They're pretty much the same, except the PS3 may change the d-pad with the left stick, and it's a bit longer and skinnier. Nothing major, not like there's a z-button on the back or anything.

360 fits better in the the hand. Also the L2/R2 on the PS3 have no guard and little resistance, so I often hit them accecdently.

KEYBOARD!!

...

In all seriousness, I prefer the 360 controller over the PS3. The 360 fits my hands much better, and the triggers and bumpers are much easier to use over the PS3's awkward L1/R1 buttons and marshmallow-y soft "triggers." Plus, the 360 feels more responsive (every PS3 controller I've ever used has felt loose and soft, instead of the solid feel a gaming control system should have). I prefer the staggered analog sticks because it makes it easier for the face buttons to be used without accidentally bumping the right analog, but keeps it within easy access for when I need it.

PS3 controllers for me. I need a controller that actually works with fighting games and the 360 controller's d-pad fails hard at that. Also the 360 controller seems to shoother configured for me. The PS3 controller works with all genres.

P.S. Hearing a lot of talk about how the trigger buttons suck on the PS3. There are barely any games that use them. And the games that do implement them well. Plus the P23 controller is just the PSOne controller with analog, wireless and trigger buttons. It's an un-fuck-up-able design that's essentially been here for over 15 years. Most PC controllers now essentially copy it's design.

I like the 360 controller because it fits more comfortably in my hand, the triggers feel like triggers and i prefer having the d-pad to the right of the left thumbstick. It also looks kinda cooler - fairly insignificant, but still a minor factor.

i think PS3 should update their controller, apart from the triggers it hasn't really changed since the PS1. this in itself is not a problem, but perhaps a controller more molded to the hand might be better. But this is just my opinion, i don't think its a bad controller, i just prefer the 360 one

Eh, I don't play 360 - the few times I have, I haven't had any problem using the 360 controller, but, since I have a PS3 and love it dearly, I voted for the PS3 controller. I just picked it up and it feels oh-so snug in ma hands... although, I will admit the "marshmallow" R2/L2 buttons are completely unnecessary. Seriously, Sony.... why did you do that??

360 all the way.

The triggers are actually triggers instead of that mushy crap on the PS3 controller. Buying those real trigger things and super gluing them to L2 and R2 makes the PS3 controller better, but I shouldn't have to buy an accessory to fix Sony's design.

The sticks curve in instead of out so my thumb has a place to rest in them which I feel also improves my grip.

The button colors are all quite different, which does help for quick time events because sometimes games make the symbols so small that all you can really make out is the color. But on the PS3 controller, circle and square are almost the same color so when all you can see is a very small pink shape that could be a square or circle and you only have a small window to pick one, there's a chance you can get it wrong. So between blue, green, red, and yellow or blue, green, red, and dark pink, I'll take the one with yellow.

The left thumbstick is in a better location on the 360 controller as well. I know that goes back and forth a lot depending on who you ask. I'm pretty used to both, but I just like it being up on top more. My right thumb is spending more time in that spot as well for the four face buttons, so having my thumbs parallel to each other just seems right to me. Again this one goes back and forth though and the reasons are pretty weird no matter what, but for me that is mine for why I like the 360's stick location better.

Also I can't comment on the keyboard plugin for the 360 controller, but I've tried the one for the PS3 controller and I think that me saying it sucks is putting it mildly.

The only place where the PS3 controller wins over the 360 controller for me is the d-pad. But apparently you can fix the 360 d-pad with some sandpaper by thinning the ring around the pad. I haven't tried that yet and again this is a case of where I shouldn't have to fix the poor design, but in the case of d-pad VS triggers, games use the triggers a lot more often than the d-pad so I find Sony's offense to be a bit worse than Microsoft's. Also I am interested to see how the new controllers with the rotating "disc to plus" style d-pads MS is releasing work. Will they fix the only flaw of the 360 controller or will the d-pad still suck? Time will tell I guess.

So yeah. 360 controller all the way.

360 controller, it fits my hand better. Although I do have to say I prefer a mouse and keyboard for control over a controller.

PS3.
The reason? Having played the PSX and PS2 during their heyday, the X-Box controller still feels awkward in its D-Pad/Left-Analog placement. Why switch them? It makes no sense. Do you want my fingers to hurt when I hadouken, Microsoft? Why?
Also, the PS controller fits very well in my hands as opposed to the fairly large 360 controller.

The 360 controller is bulky? I have smaller hands than a normal guy and I don't find the thing bulky in the slightest. It is just right perfect layout of everything.

The gamecube controller is in no way perfect. It has that stupid off-set B button. The L and R are monstrous, and when I did need to go for the Z button, I found my finger latching onto the R button by accident many a time. I would go so far as to say the 64's controller was better set up than the Gamecube's.

I have only had experience with PS2's controller, and if the PS3 is anything like it, I would hate it. The PS2 one was too elongated and those analog sticks were just too big.
