You think I stand and stare like I'm at the cinema? I still know it is going on out the corner of my eye or whatever.
Well if you're going to get uncomfortable about things you know are going on, there's really no saving you is there?

Don't like it. Some things ought to be private. Hand holding and a quick kiss are of course perfectly fine. But beyond that?

Defecating is also a perfectly natural thing that everyone does. But it is private. Some things are too personal to be done in public and it's just plain uncomfortable.

Extended groping, touching, and kissing clearly passes that line. It's not penetrative, obviously, but by that point a couple is effectively having mild sex in public.

Indeed, for that reason, PDA is something of a misnomer as it displays a little more than simple "affection."

I'm not usually too fussed, but I really hate when you see two 13 year olds making out like it's the last days of Rome. I don't need to see kids getting all hands with each other.

Also, overly intimate dancing. I've no problems with couples dancing together in a club, but when your almost fucking on the dance floor it's gone too far.

You do realize that everybody else in this thread is basically saying the same thing as me? To be honest, I think people who like watching that stuff are voyeurs.

I was once on a bus home at night, and I'm pretty sure a guy behind me was fingering his girlfriend. I think I got off several stops early and walked home.

Other than that, I certainly don't mind people being affectionate in public, but I understand why people would. Think of the children!

I like to just not watch them. Truly amazing how we all get on when everybody just minds their own business.

I tend to fall where it a lot of the posters are in here: I'm completely fine with first base and things like hand holding and hugging in public, but anything passing second base tends to be "get a room" territory for me. Not much that *I'm* bothered by it - I'm not - but I think that's sort of the societal standard in North America, especially when children are present.

One of the first things the OP mentioned was about gay people's experiences with affection in public. I'd be curious to see what gay people have experienced with PDA in public compared to straight people.

Eh, there's a line.

Holding hands, pecks on the cheek or lips, etc are fine. Nice even.

Trying to eat each others faces or groping of any kind is all kinds of inappropriate. I've yet to actively disrupt anything like that but thankfully I very rarely see it. I really hope I can do this one day;

Meh, whatever. Let people cuddle each other. Don't be such a sad, coldhearted little fuck.

Sounds like you weren't the only one "getting off"

Anyways, on topic, really, as long as you're not fucking in the street like Mr. Literal listening to the Beatles, I really don't care.
However, if you invite a group of friends around and do nothing but lip lock, I know I'd be a bit uncomfortable.

I'm not a fan.

To me, PDA just tends to give off the impression that humans have no sense of willpower or restraint. Just primal creatures ruled and easily influenced by baser natures. And that's a bit distressing and disgusting.

I mean, is it that much damn trouble to wait to take it somewhere more private? Are you so damn horny and so weak willed? Ever hear of building up anticipation?

Of course, it's relatively subjective as all things are. I can take some more than others. It's the stuff that goes over my limits that trigger this visceral response.

And while I know it's not something I can see myself doing mostly because I'll probably forget... but when people hit that limit, I automatically assume they're closet exhibitionist and I like to imagine stopping and staring like I'm sure they want me to or recording it and putting it on the net for the world to see. Just in my mind's fantasies but it's unlikely to ever occur.

Despite this, I've never truly witnessed PDA on a personal level. Well, not unless you count some family. You might say it's a concern. I worry how I'll react when I see it for the first time. Also, I don't have any real relationship experience. But I'm pretty sure that I'd never be interested in PDA and any guy I date would have to accept that.

I can understand people getting uncomfortable but my exhibitionist side likes having fun in public so i can't really judge anyone.

I don't much care. If two people are enjoying themselves why should I try and stop it? Or take any moral stance on it?

Since I'm against love and wish love would be banned I'd support these getting banned. Till then though it just disgusts me but I don't do anything about it.

Are you, per chance, British? Because that sounds exactly like Britain. If it's late, it's not uncommon to see blowjobs or handies in the back seat of a bus.

Well, thank god you were here. My utensils drawer was stuck but I could use that edge to cut my vegetables.

HAHAHA, that was a good one. Seriously though I'm 24, haven't been kissed or on a date, so I gave up on love. I feel like a bitter old man at this point.

edit: and yes the laughter at the start is sincere, that was pretty funny.

as long as they aren't getting each other off in public then I don't mind

I mean I don't like it and couldn't imagine in a million years holding my (hyperthetical) boyfriends hand in public (ugghhh) but not to the point where I'd want to prevent others from doing so particularly since gay people haven't for some time felt safe doing so

In public I'll hold hands with my boyfriend, and we'll give each other pecks on the cheek or lips when we greet each other and say goodbye, and maybe do some playful shoving every now and then. But we aren't all up on each other all the time, neither of us really wants that or likes seeing it from others in public. People totally making out in public is just really awkward and insufferable, and there's certain places you don't need to be grabbing on your partner when out in the open.

One thing I've been seeing lately that really bothers me is couples who stick their hands in each other's pockets. And by that I mean essentially grabbing their hips or ass, but under the pretense of putting their hands in the other's pocket. And I see them doing it in the weirdest places, like in the cereal isle in WalMart. You do not need to be LITERALLY attached at the hip when deciding between Captain Crunch and Fruity Pebbles, so just cut it out.

To me, people who show excessive PDA in public are just trying to prove something. I've been going out with my boyfriend for over a year and a half now and we sometimes walk down the street hand in hand when the mood strikes us. Oh, you GROPE one another in public? And you've been going out for two weeks now? My how in love you must be. I imagine you'll be fucking on park benches by your three month anniversary.

I don't really do it myself, but I think it's wonderful to see. It's very much not "socially acceptable" here in Sweden, though. People still do it, but after they leave people will talk about them and condemn their actions, which I think is a shame.
I mean, Sweden used to have a reputation for being very sex positive (or depraved, if you prefer)! (Of course, it wasn't actually true then either...)

Peck on cheek, lips, cuddling, holding hands are all fine.

EXCEPT when its in an ice rink.

I mean holding hands when ice skating in a crowded ice rink?? Holy fuck you just ruined my ice skating day. It means I have to skate around your clumsy ass and make sure that I don't get clothlined by your arms. Worst part is, just about every couple does this.

You may think you're being all romantic. But you have nooo idea how ridiculous you look.
