I won't be getting it, because I'm already too busy playing Starcraft II and Company of Heroes Online, also I've already pre-ordered Civilization V and a good bunch of other games, so even if I had the money to buy it, I'm simply not interested on it.

The "World War" thing has been overused. I'm done buying games related to it, whatever genre they are.
you're missing a lot pal. this isnt COD or halo, it actually innovates the RTS genre.
bah!

It's likely that there's going to futuristic (or at least modern day) version that will use the same/improved gaming mechanic soon enough.

it's well worth not having to get told what happened in WW2 again like a history teacher consistently babbling the same shit over and over again (like many would have to endure for 6 years alone from school)

how many RTS games do you know that does information warfare? its all spam spam spam. never is there any THOUGHT in other RTS games. ruse finally gets deceit and mind games into the picture.
meh.

as I said, the same gaming mechanic will be placed in other RTSes soon enough.

Yes, R.U.S.E maybe the first one to do such a thing but I can guarantee it won't be the only one (if successful) .

no one jumps on the bandwagon in the RTS genre. if no one ever jumps on the bandwagon when starcraft released then what makes you think they will jump on when RUSE is released? the "jump on the bandwagon thing" is an FPS genre thing.
^.^

I think you need to go and review your history on RTS gaming.

you act like everyone in the RTS gaming sector are creative when sadly and ironically they are not, there has been quite a few leaps in RTS mechanics due to some sparkling or bold games (like R.U.S.E) but ever since all the other games has just been building ontop of each other like C&C Tiberium universe (excluding #4 where the resource capture was placed)

I played the demo a few times and really enjoyed it, but I've already bought a ton of games recently.

I played the new demo and loved it! The mix of grand strategy (and I mean Grand, the map was HUGE) and simple tactics was really fun.
At one point I had a massive defensive wall of anti tank guns and machine gun nests protecting my supply convoys from being decimated by enemy armour. Then I counter-attacked with Aircraft and dropped paratroopers in the forests behind the enemy lines to counter the advancing infantry.

If only I wasn't poor....

I generally do not like RTS games. I don't care for its gimmick either. The only RTS I have enjoyed: Age of Empires, Starcraft and .... uh... Warcraft II & III. Yeah, I don't play many :p
Didn't enjoy the demo either.
I prefer turn-based strategy like Civ games.

Tried the beta, it was ok. Not good enough for a $60 (or whatever it is) purchase though. Still trying to save up for a new Video card :p

I played the demo and I immeadietly fell in love with it. RUSE is a return to an older style of RTS as more and more modern RTS's are dumping the whole base-building resource gathering part of the genre so that it appeals to less patient gamers.
There doesn't appear to be anything hugely inovative about it (appart from the deception side, which wasn't really touched on in the demo), but I don't care. It has an element of base building and resource gathering, but its not a major aspect like in Red Alert 1 + 2. However, there are still opportunities for grand tank battles or small tactical exchanges. A couple of well placed infantry units can take out an enemy light armour column.

I've been dissapointed with the RTS genre recently, the RUSE demo feels like a return to old form for me. So I've already pre-ordered it for its release in the UK on Friday :D
Simplicity is not why recent RTSs have moved away from base building and resource gathering, it's because those game never really had much strategy. The only thing that mattered was building a bigger base and pumping out as many units as possible, then steam rolling the enemy in a way that could only be described as a glorified zerg rush that took longer than normal (or in C&C case, get the super weapon first, there you win). The idea of more recent games is to use your troops in the most efficient manner possible, which greatly increases strategic variety.
