meh.Ultratwinkie said:how many RTS games do you know that does information warfare? its all spam spam spam. never is there any THOUGHT in other RTS games. ruse finally gets deceit and mind games into the picture.

Simplicity is not why recent RTSs have moved away from base building and resource gathering, it's because those game never really had much strategy. The only thing that mattered was building a bigger base and pumping out as many units as possible, then steam rolling the enemy in a way that could only be described as a glorified zerg rush that took longer than normal (or in C&C case, get the super weapon first, there you win). The idea of more recent games is to use your troops in the most efficient manner possible, which greatly increases strategic variety.Spaghetti said:I played the demo and I immeadietly fell in love with it. RUSE is a return to an older style of RTS as more and more modern RTS's are dumping the whole base-building resource gathering part of the genre so that it appeals to less patient gamers.
There doesn't appear to be anything hugely inovative about it (appart from the deception side, which wasn't really touched on in the demo), but I don't care. It has an element of base building and resource gathering, but its not a major aspect like in Red Alert 1 + 2. However, there are still opportunities for grand tank battles or small tactical exchanges. A couple of well placed infantry units can take out an enemy light armour column.
I've been dissapointed with the RTS genre recently, the RUSE demo feels like a return to old form for me. So I've already pre-ordered it for its release in the UK on Friday![]()
