I do believe real men should be strong for others, but under the right circumstances they can cry.

It totally depends on the situation. I myself don't cry often in a year maybe twice, unless you count the tears that appear when you yawn sometimes or when something ridiculessly funny happens.

Real men should cry, just not over everything.

If men didn't need to cry they wouldn't have evolved the ability to.

Just sayin'.

You know, I remember that one episode from Dexter's Laboratory in which the Action Hank recruits or whatever were proving their manhood(s) by showing they weren't afraid to play with dolls. Kinda like that I guess. A true man, or better, a truly responsible, mature person wouldn't cut down their emotions because of a view which is both traditional and nearsighted. Not to mention supportive of a patriarchal society.

That's irrelevant as it applies to any gender or age. It can come upon anyone to have to be strong on behalf of other people. It is not only the duty of men, but women as well. And sometimes animals too (the deceptively cute ones).

i think its alright to cry BUT not about every single thing. Like if a close family member or friend died or something bad happens to someone they give a damn about but sure its ok to cry once in a while

OT: I dont think so, cant remember the last time i cried, may have been when my grandpa died about 5 years ago but i dont consider myself any less of a man for it

No, that statement is bullshit. Only macho dipshits with their heads so far up their own asses that they're in danger of turning inside out and mindless automatons don't cry. For "Real Men" *sarcastic air quotes* it's perfectly acceptable. Mind you I wouldn't expect a man to break into tears at the slightest provocation either, but given the right circumstances it's perfectly acceptable.

Depends, are they crying because their dog died, or because they're watching Twilight?
ahh man i remember when i cried that my dog died...i was like 10 or something and i was balling when my dad told me...he was crying too...then and funerals and burials are the only times i remember crying. Twilight.... on the other hand..maybe crying because you have to watch it???...idk but not during it

I don't cry often infact I don't remember the last time I cried. I've lost a good amount of people in my life and I've been to many funerals and I have hardly cried. I am sometimes accused of having no feelings at all and being a heartless wretch but that's far from true. It's just that I don't really know how to cry, I cried when I was little but then it just stopped. Unfortunately I just natually bottle things up and sometimes the bottle over flows and my bottled up rage and sadness comes out in the form of hot (or cold), intense tears and dramatic change in body temperature to really hot or really cold but other than that I don't really cry I don't know if it's because I can't or because I won't. I have no problem with it since I don't care what people think and it's good to let it out. Sometimes I wish I could let it out whenever I want to.

the last time i cried was when i had an emotional breakdown during bout of depression but since then the only time i cry is when i am in stiches from laughing and when i cut myself with a tool.

so basically given the circumstances a man should be able to cry if need be.

No. This whole idea of a "real man" only serves to reinforce negative gender stereotypes. Anyone can cry if necessary.

If I'm serious about a boy and he's willing to cry in front of me, I find that very endearing and attractive. I fell more in love with my current boyfriend when he cried infront of me for the first time, it just showed how comfortable he is around me :)

However, crying spontaneously or for shit reasons is not attractive, but that counts for girls just as much as boys.

I have not cried in years, in my opinion physical pain is not something o cry over, but emotional pain is fine.

The same applies for both genders. Its alright to feel bad, but to make a show of it is unseemly. A little glisten in the eye is perfectly acceptable, but if a person plans to do that heavy mourning like a child, it should not be in the public

When I see or hear something beautiful, something really beautiful, I don't feel ashamed at the moisture at the corners of my eyes.

No, I completely disagree with it. A real man knows that expressing your emotions is key to both emotional and mental health. To repress your emotions is to try and compensate for some other facet of your life.

I think that phrase is bullshit.

Guys shouldn't let retarded social expectations hold back their basic human emotions.

My dad is one of the toughest guys around, and I've seen him cry. (You'd cry too if you had to raise a teenaged girl by yourself.) I always thought that whole 'Real men don't cry' stuff was utter bullshit.

If he has a good reason to cry, he should cry. Besides, a "real man" knows when to fuck what other people think about him anyways.

Real men don't care, they just do. Crying is a perfectly healthy thing, and needed when it is invoked. Repressing it for the sake of dickweeds who view showing emotion as being girl-ish is just stupid.

I think crying is great, healthy, and beautiful. I wish I could cry more often. Unfortunately there just isn't much that can move me to tears, at most I have a small cry once a year. I don't know why but It's just not in me anymore.
